Liberty + GT + Sato?

By Muelmuel, in Star Wars: Armada

Just thought of this combo. Have not tried it out. Anyone think it would work well for its cost?

In explanation, liberty can push 2 squadrons with a tokens. Surely there is a specific purpose for this. Considering Gunnery Teams allow one to fire at two different targets, this would allow liberty to fling two different squadrons at two different targets(on the same turn thus avoiding any enemy interruptions) and therefore be able to trigger sato on both targets with gunnery teams

Perhaps fast squadrons like A-wings work here, or Y-wings with their high hull and potential to threaten ships as a bomber.(They seemed to be flying with endeavour in the endeavour art, and considering B-wings were shown on the home one box and had independence in the expansion too(sidetracked)).

I do think the Liberty will be a nice combo with Phoenix Home and AWFM/Entrapment.

From my point of view more interesting is combining Sato with Liberty MC80 + OE + Ion turbines.

Just to double arc and reroll the black dice?

I'm giving my Liberty+Flight Controllers one more go with wave 5. Garm+Ahsoka solves one of the main problems I was having (namely, getting squadron tokens to Liberty at a low cost).

My only problem with Ashoka that she's supposed to be dead by the time Luke leaves Tatooine. Otherwise he wouldn't be the last known Jedi.....

Or to shoot two different targets with black dice. Or to do AS shot with 2 rerollable blacks.

But why ion turbines?

She says it herself.

To have 4 dices for side shots. In my experience its much better than 3 (And the option of doing 2 blues/2 blacks or 3 blues/1 black to flotilla shouldn't be discounted)

Also my question. I'd just spring the extra point for Enhanced. Throw on XX-9s to be able to use your crits.

This is a nice setup to get round the crappy Liberty side arcs. I want to see the Liberty title work well too. I've used it as a second round slingshot for 4 A-wings (with a comms net token the first round) but after that it's utility was limited.

But why ion turbines?

Good point, forgot about them. May be worth adding H9 to the build then.

Always a pretty good idea in the current flotilla-frenzy. I guess it'd be up to your personal preference. XX-9s is good against bigger ships (and with Dodonna), but H9 is becoming a favorite of mine as well.

Edit: Sato is being run. Dodonna isn't an option...

To build off of pt106's idea for the side arc Liberty, here is mine:

MC80 Battle Cruiser

-Ordnance Experts

-Leading Shots

-H9

-Enhanced Armaments

-Liberty

Wants to double arc and push squads, likely A-Wings, to the target ship. 3 reds out the side lets you get an Acc from H9 majority of the time and get 2 blacks that can get rerolled from OE. Front arc is the same deal but more damage. Should reliably kill flotillas out the front and possibly out the side with a CF. I'd put Raymus on there too for the extra reroll and die.

Still only 132 Points (If I remember how much the Liberty title costs), which isn't too bad.

It's 2 points. Still cheaper than and ISD too!

Well, several points in order - keep in mind that with Sato and H9 you can have a guaranteed accuracy at any range by Satoing one die into blue.

I'm not sold on Leading Shots in this build - Turbines + XI7 may end up being a better play, however LS is a good backup in the case Sato isn't available.

Exactly what I was thinking, though nav teams might also be a good idea, just to make it easier to set up those double-arcs.

3 points, actually.

I prefer LS over Turbines because I can reroll the reds, and get 2 rerolls on the blacks. Once you get to medium range, the build is much stronger obviously. You can add a blue die at long range, but that means only 1 black. Can't kill a flotilla at long range with 1 red and 1 black. Granted you can't do it my way either, but at least you can threaten it with a crit since 1 hit/crit will get through.

I definitely think this archetype for the Liberty will be a staple for me and many iterations are to come.

Like was pointed out in the other thread, you can do almost this exact same thing with an Assault Frigate. Obviously no scary front arc, but something I would 100% consider.

Thanks for pointing it out. My original intention was specifically looking at the liberty title, how it increases squadron activation from one to two for a token(maybe I did not emphasise that). Since gunnery teams also target two enemies, I imagine it would allow me to use sato on two enemies with my best arc by flinging two squads at them.

Any other ship can double arc so that was not my original question. Sato can be used on all other ships too

I like Muelmuel's idea - capitalizing on the Liberty's strengths instead of making up for its weaknesses makes sense to me. Even without ordnance experts changing from red/blue to blue/black dice should offer more, and more consistent, damage prospects.
