One Man's Saga

By Otherworlder, in Strategy and deck-building

So I am a mostly a solo player, though before now I have never played the saga quests solo. I generally use saga quests as a thing to do with friends for an afternoon. But recently I have decided to start a new campaign, solo, using (mostly) thematic decks. It's a tricky business, but it's going well; modern card pool really helps.

I use a different deck for every saga box. For The Black Riders, I have a Loragorn, Glorfindel and Arwen deck hereL http://ringsdb.com/decklist/view/3747/the-road-to-rivendell-1.0

For the Road Darkens, I have a Three Hunters deck with Core Aragorn and Legolas and Gimli from Sands of Harad.

The second deck is still being tweaked; I escaped the Balrog but have one more quest to go for the Road Darkens.

I welcome all comments and suggestions, especially what hero combinations might work well for the next few boxes. I haven't played through any of them.

How can you keep a campaign if you're changing heroes and decks?

The first quest of every box starts with heroes can be changed without penalty. The only box that doesn't allow heroes to be changed is the Treason of Saruman. So I am doing one deck per box to be on theme, and for Treason of Saruman am either doing Legolas/Gimli secrecy plus fellowship Aragorn or just taking the penalty if I want to play Rohan there, haven't decided. Decks can of course be changed at will.

As well, draw decks can be changed between games without penalty as long as you include any earned boons and burdens.

Ha. Hadn't taken that into account. Cool.
