Ghost spotted in Rogue One

By vyrago, in X-Wing

Thank you for adding more reasons why I won't see it.

You're welcome to **** off at any time.

Seconded.

Dangerous thirding, since it's getting damned annoying at this rate.

I think there's some kind of clause in the OT lover handbook that states you cannot like anything but the original movies and anything else is garbage with no exception and you have a right to call it garbage despite not watching it or it not being 'for you'.

To be fair one thing that does annoy me about the fandom is all the plugging of ears by fans and going 'lalala' whenever a part of Star Wars they don't like is mentioned. You don't have to like it, but at least respect it.

Anyway...back on topic...

I'm looking forward to this regardless if the Ghost appears or not. I am a Rebels fan but it's a small easter egg and cameo, that's not enough to alter my perception of the movie.

I'm actually kind of happy that they are making an effort to add the little details that tie this movie to everything around it.

Its a nice touch, but I hope that is all we see from the Rebels crew. The show Rebels still has that really cartoony feel with flying lightsaber inquisitors and such. Its alright entertainment for kids, but I like that so far it is easy to ignore in the Movieverse (less so in our game).

I am certain Sabine will be somewhere in Rogue One, she is everywhere. Discoball-painted deathstar anyone? T

Urgh this makes me even less interested in rogue one than before.

What is with you guys? It's a cameo, for crying out loud!

The only thing that surprises me is that the put the cameo into a trailer...

One less person I got to fight for a seat.

If it was intentional, then the purpose is to do exactly what is happening in this thread: drum up hype.

If it was unintentional: woopsie.

I'm hoping they talk about this in Star Wars Show or Rebels Recon before the movie release.

What is the ship above the left hand X-wing and to the right of the star destroyer? Looks like it has 2 engines...

I'm pretty sure that's a Braha'tok Gunship: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Braha'tok-class_gunship

I dont think all like because the rebel's have different coolers so I doubt all see wat ether any more

Regardless of what happens to the Ghost in R1, or if it even is the Ghost, it's nice to see the VCX in live action.

Rebels may be canon but being in a real Star Wars film somehow validates it more in my mind.

It will be the Ghost. We will see it in the background, possibly even go on board and see the crew fighting in the climactic battle of the film. We will hear some names spoken like "Zeb, Kallis keep those TIEs off us. Chopper, get the shields back up!" Then the ship will be caught in a blossoming fireball that destroyes ship and crew. Total screen time 12 seconds, enough that those who have never seen or cared about Rebels to not even notice. For those of us that have grown attached to the characters we will be thrilled, and then emotionally destroyed.

If this is real, im super mad. Why spoiling such moment to all of us?

Don't worry Zura, I have absolutely no knowledge of how the movie will go. I like the idea of the heroes in some fashion surviving through their series, they are the protagonists and deserve to win in their plot. I also like the idea of seemingly indestructible heroes actually going down, but not in the kids show they are designed for. Give the empire a bit more credibility, especially in such a dark version of star wars as this is looking to be. Plus if they play a minor roll in Rogue One, their demise wouldn't derail the entire film for the casual fan. While at the same time adding a great deal of uncertainty and real fear for the entire rebellion for the long time fans of Star Wars.

Cast of Rebels aside, is anyone else going to be a little upset if Disney doesn't go all Dirty Dozen with the Rogue One cast? If more than a couple of them survive, I'll be disappointed .

yeap its the ghost ..... so what if it gets destroyed during the battle and next season of rebels end as they leave for that battle

If they wanted to be really clever and screw with people heads, they should DESTROY the VCX-100 light freighter. They make no mention of the crew or anything, not even the name of the ship just show it get destroyed. Then we will have some added tension to Rebels for the next two seasons.

They could easily make it so by the last season of Rebels the crew has transitioned to other posts and ships and that there is a new crew who gets killed. But how much of a mindscrew would that be?

I will be certainly. This mission needs to be a phyrric victory. Sure they steal the plans but the rebels lose a lot of people in the process.

Let's not forget the crew of the Tantive got decimated as well as Alderann and all but three fighters of the Rebels that assaulted the Death Star.

I'm a fan of Rebels regardless of being a couple decades or more older than its target audience. When I watched the trailer I had to double take to check I'd seen the VCX. So happy to see it there but I'm equally happy to keep it a mystery and keep Rebels and the movies separate.

As someone said making no mention of who is on board and then blow it up would be pretty cool!

Ghost making a cameo - pretty cool, the USS Enterprise making a cameo in a SW movie - seriously JJ, wtf you thinking.

With all due respect, I didn't see it in the Force Awakens. Present to me your evidence and I will judge accordingly. That being said, supposedly the USS Enterprise D has a background appearance in The Phantom Menace, and you can't blame that one on JJ.

However, this is not that unusual for films and TV to do...

In Firefly, an Imperial Shuttle, and a Corellian Cargo ship from the EU can be seen in two episodes, the latter is pretty overt too.

Star Trek First Contact has the Millennium Falcon appear for a split second during the battle with the borg cube at the start.

Films throw in these little easter eggs and they are usually so tiny or there for a split second that you never even recognise it unless you were to watch the film back frame by frame.

And R2D2 was in the latest Khan Star Trek movie. Yes they do this, and yes, ETs in SW is stupid. I just breaks the four wall and pulls people out of the movie and adds nothing to it.

It's after Rey eats and is sitting outside her ATAT with the rebel pilot helmet on.

Where? That ship? I think you're seeing things. That's not a Constitution-class...

Having an extraterrestrial life form in Star Wars breaks the fourth wall?

I personally noticed none of these while watching the aforementioned movies so it didn't broke the fourth wall for me and even if I had noticed them I wouldn't mind cause they are clearly not easter eggs for those who watch closely enough.

Yes, because you are thinking about the film makers and not the story being told, "hey George and Steven are BFFs, so ET is in star wars". Yes this works for some comedies, otherwise, best left alone.

Where? That ship? I think you're seeing things. That's not a Constitution-class...

It is, and once it is seen, it can not be unseen. It is flying away from the viewer. And yes, it's true, one of JJ's ester eggs.

No sense at all.

Eh, I see a pointy ship with two engines, and a casual glance does not ruin a movie for you. However, if it does for you then, by all means take all your films and just dump them in the nearest trash heap, because films have easter eggs, and if you can't just laugh at it and look past it then you take films way too seriously.

As for adding nothing, it creates interesting nods and discussion. There are entire websites dedicated to easter eggs in films.

As for the ship I can see the Enterprise in its shape, but I literally had to sit there and think through how it could work because it isn't instantly recognisable. For a 4 second shot people aren't going to do that in time, besides, we don't know that it was JJ that put it in there. I've heard many a times that this is something that is usually just done as a nod to the director. I believe Gareth Edwards mentioned in one of the last Star Wars show's how someone from the set design team put an easter egg referencing one of his prior films into the background. Didn't ask about it, just did it.

I see a delta-shaped ship. And re-watching the scene, it's flying up and away. The angle of its trajectory does not match to what the silhouette of the ET going in the same direction would be. I think you've been had.

Its flying almost directly away from the camera. Depending on the model used, and the distance the typical outline of a Constitution from directly behind is triangular.

The 'Lump' on the bottom left of the triangle is a nacelle, the other nacelle is lost in the silouhette, the Saucer is the top point and the bottom right is the hull.
