Ghost spotted in Rogue One

By vyrago, in X-Wing

It would be very strange for them to try out this infiltration mission without using their 2 Jedi in some way, especially if they are already there.

Nervous about this next episode of Rebels now. Thrawn isn't a pushover, and they've been getting off easy...

The preview for the next episode of Rebels features Maul. Someone else pointed out Phantom II is not docked in this preview. I'm betting Ezra and Kanan took Phantom II, and have their hands full preventing Maul from killing Obiwan.
Yes but on Rebels we're still a year or so (I think?) away in universe time from Rogue One. So next week's Rebel's won't mean anything for the appearance of the Maybe!Ghost.
I've seen multiple posts claiming to know the time gap between the current season of Rebels and the Rogue One. I think you and everyone else making these claims is wrong. I believe Star Wars is doing the same thing Marvel does with Agents of Shield. The episodes will tie-in with the films. This is based on the impression I get from multiple filmed interviews ranging from the panels at Star Wars celebration to weekly installments on Rebels Recon and Star Wars Show.

LOL - the show actually says when it was set, there is no 'guessing' involved.

You are paying attention, right? The episode 'Empire Day', in season 1, flat out says it is set on the 15th anniversary of the Declaration of Empire. IE., Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith? So...season 1 is 4 years BBY.

Then we get to Season 2, episode 10 , which the show's writers describe as:

Set roughly three years before the events of A New Hope , Leia is introduced as a young leader on her way to becoming the strong, more resolute character portrayed in the original trilogy.

So...season 1 is about 4 years BBY. Season 2 is 3 years BBY. Think you can see where we are going with this...

(Obviously, the events of Rogue One flow directly into the Battle of Yavin, so are 0 BBY)

That the show is only 5 seasons long has been implied by a few sources. Given that, and the above, season 3 (we are in, now) would be 2 years BBY, season 4 would then be 1 years BBY and season 5 at year 0 BBY - IE., season 5 of 'Rebels' ending right up against the events depicted in 'Rogue One'.

Bingo. I was blanking on some details but knew it was too early to lead directly into the film.

So, if the Ghost is at the Battle of Scarif where are the Phoenix Sqd A-wings?

They're Dead.

Do you watch Rebels? :D

There ....isn't... ACTUALLY...a cameo of the... enterprise...is there?

Not disputing the placement of "Empire Day" or "Princess on Lothal" in the timeline. Everything after that is an assumption. We don't know how much time passes between Season 2 amd Season 3. We don't know how much time passes between episodes of Season 3. It could be weeks or even months.

I feel as if they've killed someone named in the Majority of Episodes this season - starting with the First.

This is actually really cool to see that ship in live-action form.

Whether it's the Ghost or not (I'm leaning towards the former), this is a pretty cool easter egg!

We do actually have a rough idea of how long it's been.

It's been about six months.

So we're really close to about 2-1.5 BBY.

I really doubt we'll see the crew in a cameo. I'm convinced we're only going to see the Ghost as to do otherwise would to spoil the plot of Rebels.

There are few things that could make me walk out of a Star Wars movie, I watched each and every prequel, but I swear if they show Ezra as a part of the mission I will get up and walk out of the theatre. In a show its one thing in a movie its another.

Ghost making a cameo - pretty cool, the USS Enterprise making a cameo in a SW movie - seriously JJ, wtf you thinking.

With all due respect, I didn't see it in the Force Awakens. Present to me your evidence and I will judge accordingly. That being said, supposedly the USS Enterprise D has a background appearance in The Phantom Menace, and you can't blame that one on JJ.

However, this is not that unusual for films and TV to do...

In Firefly, an Imperial Shuttle, and a Corellian Cargo ship from the EU can be seen in two episodes, the latter is pretty overt too.

Star Trek First Contact has the Millennium Falcon appear for a split second during the battle with the borg cube at the start.

Films throw in these little easter eggs and they are usually so tiny or there for a split second that you never even recognise it unless you were to watch the film back frame by frame.

Why? What's the big deal about Ezra being part of the mission if that were to happen?

Thank you for adding more reasons why I won't see it.

You're welcome to **** off at any time.

Seconded.

No, idea, everyone is telling that Ezra is the founder of the knights of Ren. Maybe he does not like the idea that there are more than 4 force users in the era. ;-)

Would the timelime of the "Star Wars Rebels" featuring the Ghost fit perfectly into this movie?

Sort of. Rebels is set starting out 4 years BBY, they are currently 3BBY in the current season I think. So it's possible that the Ghost crew could still be around for rogue one's timeline.

I think old man Mcgregor (see what I did there?) could take metal pants without Kanan or Ezra's help...

Ezra being a rogue force user somewhere in the galaxy I can kindve accept, although I think he should die, but apart of the Rebel Alliance? Not at all.

I used the word "prevent" deliberately; meaning Kanan and Ezra should get in Maul's way before he finds Obiwan. I'm not going to speculate on the outcome of a duel between Old Ben and Mister Steampunk Legs.

We clearly know who wins the nickname contest, though.

Dangerous thirding, since it's getting damned annoying at this rate.

I guess I'll have to be on the look out for a Twi'lek/astromech in the background of that dirty city we see in several of the trailers then.

Its a nice touch, but I hope that is all we see from the Rebels crew. The show Rebels still has that really cartoony feel with flying lightsaber inquisitors and such. Its alright entertainment for kids, but I like that so far it is easy to ignore in the Movieverse (less so in our game).

It will be the Ghost. We will see it in the background, possibly even go on board and see the crew fighting in the climactic battle of the film. We will hear some names spoken like "Zeb, Kallis keep those TIEs off us. Chopper, get the shields back up!" Then the ship will be caught in a blossoming fireball that destroyes ship and crew. Total screen time 12 seconds, enough that those who have never seen or cared about Rebels to not even notice. For those of us that have grown attached to the characters we will be thrilled, and then emotionally destroyed.

If this is real, im super mad. Why spoiling such moment to all of us?

Don't worry Zura, I have absolutely no knowledge of how the movie will go. I like the idea of the heroes in some fashion surviving through their series, they are the protagonists and deserve to win in their plot. I also like the idea of seemingly indestructible heroes actually going down, but not in the kids show they are designed for. Give the empire a bit more credibility, especially in such a dark version of star wars as this is looking to be. Plus if they play a minor roll in Rogue One, their demise wouldn't derail the entire film for the casual fan. While at the same time adding a great deal of uncertainty and real fear for the entire rebellion for the long time fans of Star Wars.

That's a relief. I just know that the whole movie plot is spoiled somewhere online and i was afraid that your information comes from those summaries. I was spoiled the whole force awakens plot similar way.

Yeah, TFA was spoiled so hard, someone made even a a whole movie in 78 spoiling most of the plot points °_°

(Disclaimer: No, nothing was leaked and SOMEONE always makes the right guess, it's the internet afterall)

Urgh this makes me even less interested in rogue one than before.
