Ghost spotted in Rogue One

By vyrago, in X-Wing

I know I was waiting to hear Phoenix Squadron.

I know I was waiting to hear Phoenix Squadron.

they all are DEAD

:P

At least one Phoenix Squadron A-Wing is present on Yavin IV at the Battle of Yavin (Complete Locations, newcanon version)

I think I caught a glimpse of it twice but did t see it during the spot that was spoiled.

It definitely had a few showings in the movie. Also General Syndulla is mentioned. I'm sure this is old news by now though.

It will be the Ghost. We will see it in the background, possibly even go on board and see the crew fighting in the climactic battle of the film. We will hear some names spoken like "Zeb, Kallis keep those TIEs off us. Chopper, get the shields back up!" Then the ship will be caught in a blossoming fireball that destroyes ship and crew. Total screen time 12 seconds, enough that those who have never seen or cared about Rebels to not even notice. For those of us that have grown attached to the characters we will be thrilled, and then emotionally destroyed.

Not sure (as I havent't read all 11 pages) but in case anyone didn't spot it. When they leave in a huff to go somewhere... (trying not to spoil) there is a tannoy announcement for General Syndulla to report to command. Could be unrelated, Syndulla is a common Twi'lek family name, could be Hera's father (but he seemed very attached to Ryloth) could be... the owner of the Ghost though...

Dave Filloni confirmed it is Hera they call out over the PA. And it is the Ghost and (obviously) Chopper.

As mentioned in one of the other threads, Filoni has confirmed it is Hera, Chopper and the Ghost. This means Hera is due a promotion but the fate of the rest of crew is TBD. We see the ghost in the opening shots of the battle of Scarif but not later on. Several ships escape into hyperspace at the end of the battle so the Ghost could be one of them.

Edit: Darn, ninja'd!

Turns out Wookiepedia has a shot of the Ghost parked on Yavin. I think this is the scene right before Jyn and Cassian go to Jedah.

Also, fun fact, the CR-90 right above the Ghost has the same markings as the Liberator when the camera passes, and the CR-90 in the lower right also matches the markings of another Phoenix Cell ship. It kinda makes sense why A-wings wouldn't be here as well, seeing as there are more superior fighters available. Still would've been nice to see a pair Phoenix A-wings getting blown up as usual.

The Ghost looks very small parked on Yavin.

Really? Look at the 2 Rebel pilots in front of it.

That's pretty cool. Hard to say it's for sure the Ghost or just another VCX.

Apparently we've got Filoni confirmation on this, but I'll add my .02 credits.

Be warned, I'm about to cite something told to me by "a guy I know", so you probably want to take this with some salt.

So a guy I know did some VFX work on Rogue One, and he mentioned that he'd worked with some ships in the space battle that were from Rebels. I asked which ones, and he said "a Hammerhead cruiser and the Ghost". I asked "Were they cagey about whether it was actually the Ghost rather than some random VCX-100?" and he said all the shot descriptions specifically referred to it as the Ghost .

Yes it has since the release been confirmed by multiple sources as the Ghost.

Plus you see Chopper on Yavin

And hear them call for General Syndulla

Can someone try to clone this shot using X-Wing Miniatures? It seems to me like a great way to test how compatible the scales really are.

That would be quite interesting to see! Sadly I still haven't managed to pick up a Ghost after all this time so I can't myself.

One unrelated thing I love about this shot.. it kind of illustrates (along with many other shots) the lack of organisation and cohesion the Rebel Alliance works from (and likely thrives because of in its own way).

"Hey we need to land the squadron and debrief"

And this is how they do it.. just stick that T65 down wherever you feel like!

Brief interview with Dave Filoni, confirming the General Syndulla being paged at the rebel base on Yavin IV is Hera Syndulla. Also has the blink and you'll miss him glimpse of "Chopper".

Can't for the life of me find the interview I read yesterday where he briefly discusses all the Rebel's tie ins and also whether they'll "re-visit" the Battle of Scariff from the pov of the crew of the Ghost. Saw Gerrera is turning up in a couple of Rebels episodes as well, voiced by Forest Whittaker.
