Rebel Swarm Leader

By Schu81, in X-Wing

New Chewbacca with Swarmleader and a couple of A-wings.

I really like Jess with R2-D6 and Swarm Leader. By shooting at PS3, you should have a pretty good idea of which ships will need their Evade tokens and which will not.

I posted this list in topic with TIE-striker preview.

Jess Pava (30) - T-70 X-Wing

R2-D6 (1), Primed Thrusters (1), Integrated Astromech (0), Swarm Leader (3)

Green Squadron Pilot (23) - A-Wing

Snap Shot (2), Chardaan Refit (-2), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Autothrusters (2), Juke (2)

I tried to make squadron where evade tokens are most useful.

So you are using them with juke (2 times each if you are lucky) and then Jess discards two of them firing after A-wings.

Also she has 3 rerolls for her 5-6 dice attack. Even more she has up to 3 rerolls on her defence rolls, so opponent has hard choice of targets.

You free to replace Primed Thrusters with Pattern Analyzer or Autothrusters. Or even change Snapshots with PtL (discarding Autothrusters from one of A-wings).

going crazy with the swarm aspect..

98 pts.

Etahn A’baht (32) E-wing

R2-F2 (3), Swarm leader (3)

Prototype Pilot (17) A-wing

Chardan Refit (-2)

Prototype Pilot (17) A-wing

Etahn is also ready a good swarm leader type because of his ability to boost the damage results of anyone shooting at the same target as him. and while the prototype A-wings have lousy piloting skills, with 4 of them there should be little trouble making sure that two of them are shooting the same target he is. R2-F3 is there mainly to ensure that he stays alive long enough against what the opponent is inevitably going to throw his way,

Coran horn and three a wings you get two modified shot

3 PTL + Snapshot green squad is 66pts... whatcha got that's 34pts? Bonus points if you can fit in Jan Ors so that you can change focus to evades if needed.

Sabine Wren (21)

Swarm Leader (3)

Autoblaster Turret (2)

Jan Ors (2)

Shield Upgrade (4)

Total: 32

Or the B-wing Route -

Nera Dantels (26)

Swarm Leader (3)

Fire-Control System (2)

Jan Ors (2)

B-Wing/E2 (1)

Total: 34

Yeah, you are ignoring Nera's ability and just using her EPT.

This might have some merit as well:

Shara Bey (28)

Swarm Leader (3)

Tail Gunner (2)

R5 Astromech (1)

Alliance Overhaul (0)

Total: 34

Again, not using Shara's ability really, but SwL can make your rear arc really deadly.

35 Red Squadron Veteran (26), Swarm Leader (3), Targetting Astromech (2), Pattern analyser (2), Autothrusters (2)
21 Green Squadron Pilot (19), Chaardan (-2), AWTP (0), Juke (2), Adaptability (0) Authrusters (2)

Adaptability gives all 4 ships PS4. A-wings try to Evade wherever possible. They can use those tokens for defence or when Juking. When the RSV comes to fire, they can pass any unused tokens to him. TA and PA allow him to fire a 5-dice shot (6 at R1) with TL and Focus when pulling a Red. Even /x7 Defenders won't like that sort of firepower. Autothrusters help keep the squad alive and increase the odds of spare Evade tokens being available when the RSV comes to fire.

I think the idea of R3 Astromech is an interesting one.

2 R3 Astromechs and a Swarm Leader upgrade are essentially the same price as a heavy laser cannon - but distributed across two astromech slots and one EPT.

Alternatively, you could take a couple of Rebel TIE fighters as evade donors. Ashoka is especially useful in Captured TIE as she isn't putting herself at risk by feeding someone evades, but even taking Zeb and Rex, you save enough points over A-wings to buy the Swarm Leader card in the first place.

It's a shame from a rebel perspective that Lightweight Frame is TIE only.

LW on an ARC with R2-D2 would be pretty much insane. It would be like slapping a Tie Fighter onto your T-70 Hull.

Let's not even talk about Miranda.

This looks like a lot of fun. The only hard thing will be making sure Jess gets someone in arc every turn, which can be tough at ps3 and no turret.

Other issue with Jess is she wants friendlies at range1 of her.

Awings are much faster than Xwings

The initial joust would be simple to keep everyone in arc but the vastly different flight pattern would make it really hard to have arc with Jess +2 Awings AND have someone close enough to her for her ability.
