DEFINITELY new capital ship in Rogue One

By xanderf, in Star Wars: Armada

It could just be a side on view of the ring shaped station seen in other shots....

I know the first goes a bit fast. You can right click and adjust play speed to slow it down.

after looking those I'm pretty convinced its a brohatok. Anything that increase my chances of getting one!

It would make sense. Im sure the designers scoured every possible source for canon Rebel ships. They probably looked at Return of the Jedi as well and saw the Brahatok

Definitely a Brahatok.

The one on the top left, with the two engines, is, I think, the transport ship spoiled a little while back, that first appeared in Episode 2.

I don't know much about the Brahtok, so I went over to Wookiepedia and read both the canon and legends pages. Here is the link to the canon page

Apparently, Dornean Gunships were in both Lost Stars and Battlefront: Twilight Company (great audiobook by the way). So they were already canon, this will just confirm what they look like.

That's an SWM20-class cruiser.

Nope. That's way to small to be an SWM20-class.

Well, they're in Jedi. They're canon from that.

Oh yeah that too. I guess I kind of forgot about that since it is such a quick shot of one. I'm hope we get a more grandiose capital ship fight that doesn't focus too much on fighters.

for some reason I got it in my head that we saw the phoenix home carrier in a still from a trailer... did I make that up? Cause I can't find anything

Well, it wouldn't be Phoenix Home.

Vader's already seen to that.

Posted it in the Rebels Season 3 as well...

VCX-100 Sighted.

Interesting, the front of the capital ship in this image looks completely different compared to earlier stills. I think they went for a more elongated, less bulky, look as well. Unless we are talking about multiple large ships...

First image of the front, no bottom beam on the front part:

Already thought I spotted the additional front beam in the fly-by in yesterday's teaser:

What is that bottom right?

No clue, but I was thinking the same thing. Kind of has a bulk cruiser look.

I got more of a Lancer vibe from it.

No. That is not a flying space unmentionables. Did look like a potential new smallor midsized ship though.

Good observations. I think it's definitely the same ship which likely makes it much bigger than a frigate. May be something more along the size of an MC80. I think the rear of the ship tapers a lot and that is why you can't see more of it from the front view. Since we never see it again I'm guessing it goes boom some how.

New sketch based on latest stills :P

Pretty certain on the front. Wonder what the back / engines will look like.

I'm more excited to see a VCX in Rogue One than a new ship to be honest. I find that quite interesting

So without a doubt the Rebels have a new large capital ship. That's great and all, but if it is introduced in Armada, Rebels have 3 large ships and the Imps still have 1. FFG could release the Tector class ISD as large, but is there any other ideas from the new content that can be used for a large ship for Imps? I've always viewed Imps as having all the large ships and Rebels have smaller ones, and ironically, this isn't reflected in Armada.

Why do both factions need the same number of ships?

Im sure the finalizer will make it in to armada at some point.

They don't. I actually prefer they don't. But this is still Star Wars and how weird would it be when the Rebels have 3 large ships and the Imps still have 1. Rebels can salvage all they want, but Imps had more than just ISDs at their disposal for large ships and I want to see them.

In the canon, though, all you see are Star Destroyers.

In every book that is also canon? Saying only ISDs are used in every possible material that is canon is a stretch.

That's actually starting to look like a kind of cool design. (Nice sketching skills, by the way!)

Think I'd rather like to have that in the game, in fact.

The other thing to consider, I suppose, is that the Empire could always see the Star Destroyer re-released in some fashion. While Armada hasn't yet done a pure 'repaint release', like X-Wing has frequently done, it could be done.

And, hell, wouldn't even need to be ONLY a repaint - the Imperial-I class Star Destroyer actually looks very different from an Imperial-II...

R1vRotJ-1024x822.jpg

...I wouldn't be too upset to get a 'Rogue One' expansion for Armada - Imperial-I Star Destroyer, maybe some new Rebel commanders and crew, and a few U-Wing and TIE Striker squadrons...

I will seriously ask, then: What are they?

I don't get to read books or Comics.

So what I know is what I can see as part of the visual media applications of the Star Wars License.

So what I see is:

ISD-1s and ISD-2s... Both reflected in the ISD Pack we already have...

The Tector Star Destroyer is a technicality that, like it or not, I accept as canon....

...

But as far as I know, most of the other large ships where sent to Legends with the vast majority of EU Material...

There are some reintroduced ships (through Tarkin and such), that do name some of those ships, but seemingly, most of them are smaller than a Star Destroyer, and may not qualify as "Large" in the Armada Scale, which would also make them somewhat irrelevant for a discussion on large ships....... Right?

...

So no, I'm not intending on being an arse and pointing out a flaw... I do truly want to know... If there is another Large imperial ship, in the canon, besides an Imperial or Tector Class... I'd really like to know...

The Finalizer would also count, although of course.
