is stressbot+gunner better then M9G8+weapons engineer?

By alien earth, in X-Wing Squad Lists

next weekend we gonna go to a 3members squad tourney, one for faction. i will probably be the rebel. i'm bored about double vcx and not so confident with kwing... but i really enjoy arcs. so: is stressbot+gunner better then M9G8+weapons engineer?

it's the fgd list (thanks!), modified with bb8 kyle combo: 99pts

Norra Wexley (41) ARC-170 (29), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3), Kyle Katarn (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Engine Upgrade (4)

Braylen Stramm (32) ARC-170 (25), R3-A2 (2), Gunner (5), Alliance Overhaul (0)

Biggs Darklighter (26) X-Wing (25), R4-D6 (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

or with m9g8

Norra Wexley (41) ARC-170 (29), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3), Kyle Katarn (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Engine Upgrade (4)

Braylen Stramm (33) ARC-170 (25), M9-G8 (3), Weapons Engineer (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Vectored Thrusters (2)

Biggs Darklighter (26) X-Wing (25), R4-D6 (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

or even this (but lacks of damage output, thought):

Braylen Stramm (34) ARC-170 (25), R3-A2 (2), Gunner (5), Alliance Overhaul (0), Vectored Thrusters (2)

Biggs Darklighter (26) X-Wing (25), R4-D6 (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Shara Bey (39) ARC-170 (28), M9-G8 (3), Predator (3), Weapons Engineer (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Vectored Thrusters (2)

any advice please? lack of time to test, btw....

thank you!

edit: bad grammar (facepalm)

I think that it depends on the rest of your fleet and also your opponent to some extent (just to start off really unhelpfully ;)). M9-G8 is a great droid but works best when you get ships on either side that can double-tap because it makes more uses of its ability. If you have a Ghost/Phantom or are facing Dengar then M9-G8 can give you a real boost. It is also good for ships that struggle to get a native reroll because they want to use their actions for something other than a Target Lock (looking at you Mr Dameron).

On the other hand Braylen excels against lists that require actions as no one likes a double stress. Kanan, PTL Ryad and Manaroo (if you can catch her) are all going to suffer under a pile of stress tokens.

If you are running Biggs, I would say that Thane is a better carrier for M9-G8/WE than Braylen or Shara because the free actions when people attack Biggs will allow you to swap your Target Locks around mid phase.

In a vacuum, I would normally take Braylen/Stressbot/Gunner. But in the case where you have Biggs, I think that Thane/M9-G8/WE will give you better support. This is particularly true of Norra who really wants to spend her TL for an extra hit rather than rerolling. I would go with the following.

41 Norra Wexley (29), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3), Kyle Katarn (3), Alliance Overhaul (0), Engine Upgrade (4)

32 Thane Kyrell (26), M9-G8 (3), Weapons Engineer (3), Alliance Overhaul (0)

26 Biggs Darklighter (25), R4-D6 (1), Integrated Astromech (0)

Stressll simply accomplish more and gunner might actually make your aux arc count for something. 2 dice without stress or gunner might as well not exist

Forced rerolls on thr opponents dice have been stupidly weak, in my experience. With a focus, the chance of canceling damage is actually tiny especially relative to stress denying offensive modifications

M9g8 really shines when supporting a ship that can attack multiple times a round (tlt) moreso than an attack deterent

For ARCs, stress is far and away the superior options. It protects their fragile statline, gives you a chance to hit through enemy defenses, and greatly impeeds their abity to trade dice while you just glide foward and fire out the ass when they pass you

With your particular Norra build I would go with the stressbot Braylen, as it allows Norra (with BB8 and EU) to get arc and range 1 of the stressed enemies and put the hurt on them.

M9G8 + WE is good for consistent damage with Norra. With M9G8 and her ability, its rare you dont get 3+ hits every time. It costs the same as Predator, so dont listen to the "Should be on multiple attacking ships." Predator does just fine on single attack ships and so does M9. Don't forget the defensive benefits either of making your opponent reroll crits into misses or just plain hits. This is often overlooked as many people just focus on offensive output, but combined with Biggs + R4D6, it can save him damage if he is taking two hits and a crit, the opponent rerolls that crit to a hit and R4D6 reduces those three hits to two. I have been using this combo for a little while now and every hit prevented on Biggs, is hits prevented on your Arcs. I kept Biggs alive on 1HP for one extra round and my opponents Zuckuss had to range 1 attack on Biggs the next round, instead of my fragile Arc.

thank you all, i hope i will menage to test both config the next playsession. I think i will stuck on stressbot, because of those shaenigans with high ps.
