i think its pretty well known FFG fudged up the striker upgrade bar. It has a bigger chassis than a phantom, yet has no crew or bomb or SOMETHING to use that extra space? its not faster either, its dial accommodates the "free boost" so its about the same as any TIE except it can turn a bit more
Quite frankly i think i'd rather a bomb than a crew. 3-4 random seismics to worry about? yes please
I think FFG fudged it, too, but I think they recognized that this ship could get out of hand quickly. It's going to be a lot of fun to fly, regardless.
Side bar about bombs. With the title, Strikers would be able to:
1) Title boost
2) Drop bombs that proc before maneuver dials are revealed
3) GTFO
That's pretty awesome
ikr?
If it had a bomb slot, i would totally run the 17pt shmuck with title/seismics for 19pts. Possibly 2 of them. Thats 2 uncanny bombs and 3die platforms to worry about.
Coupled with someone who wants Swarm Leader ftw.
If the Tie Striker had a crew slot it would almost completely invalidate the Tie Shuttle title for the bomber.
Not really.
TIE shuttle has 2 crew, Striker would be 1.
Self-stressing crew would counteract most of the Striker's perks, Systems Officer is equal between the two, and all the rest of the crew we'd even bother using are self-sufficient crew (vader, ysanne, rebel captive, tactician, etc)
Plus it'd be more expensive and less durable.
I wouldnt ever run a striker as a support. That crew would only be for Tactician, Rebel Captive, Hot Shot CoPilot, or Gunner to me. Vader if i feel like having a one-off shot for some reason lol.
You're missing the point! the Crew positions are to flap the ailerons when landing....
Not really.

Systems Officer would be better on the Striker than it is the TIE Shuttle. Systems Officer and TIE Mk. II on a Striker would give you two opportunities to grant a target lock.
Hopefully they'll release multiple titles that do different things. One that adds boost and a bomb would be fun. Striker only mod for a crew would also give it some reach. Lots of sub 20pt options if they were free...which I think the generics need if they are going to see competitive table time. The tie stable is too thick at 16-20 for a generic generic to make a splash.
I mean, while technically the TIE shuttle kind of invalidates this, I'd say there's an argument to be made that the Striker just has passenger space, not crew space. We all know a lot of Large base ships with crew slots can actually hold a lot more people than they have upgrades for, but there's only room for so many people in the cockpit or other stations - and those people only mechanically "count" if you spend Squad Points on them. The Striker is still crewed only by one guy, passengers are just along for the ride. And yeah, I know, "TIE Shuttle", but if we want to talk about canonicity then technically judging by Rebels the only difference between using a TIE/sa as a bomber or a shuttle is "did you unpack all the ordinance" and not even necessarily a title thing.
That said, I would not be shocked if LFL didn't give (or maybe even have decided) all this information on the Striker before giving it to FFG - a recent article on starwars.com about the U-Wing and Striker in X-Wing even says it takes them about a year of work to go from idea to stores - that's a lot of lag if say, 3-4 months ago somebody decided it was okay for them to carry Proton Bombs (which they do in one of the mobile games) so I would not be surprised if a Title or Mod came along to give them the Bomb slot.
And if you want a variant of the Striker to boost, buy Engine Upgrade.
Not really.

They literally have the same number of greens. Striker has 1bank greens, bomber has 2bank. Both gain +4 greens with MK2 engines.
I'd put Intelligence Agent on a PS 1 Striker in a heartbeat!
All of the replies to the thread are hilarious, as it strongly suggests that very few people watched the linked video before commenting... I know, weird right?
I would guess the simplicity of the Striker is a factor in their rapid testing needed to get it out the door for the movie and their not wanting a JM5K repeat with too much flexibility.

My suggestion for boost on a title was so that you could still get more movement on it with the bomb since you couldn't take bomb title and Adaptive A.

Aileron hydraulics.

being a prior Avionics guy for the US Air Force, i know a bit about airplane hydralics. They aint small lol.

Nah, those stromtroopers' girlfriends would disagree with you.
Seriously, this thread isn't about the striker, it is about the video.

You're not wrong. Even if they were running some kind of mega-speed jackscrew system, it'd take up a ton of space.
I noticed someone complaining about the artwork showing the large port in the center of the tail showing exhaust glow, where all other artwork for TIE ships show it as two smaller ports either side of the large. It's supposed to be an atmospheric ship, which generally requires a more brute force method of acceleration than in vacuum - not to mention staying airborne (the Striker wings look pretty, but I'm not seeing anything that looks vaguely like an airfoil, or even a vortex destroyer, on those...).
I'd imagine a lot of that extra junk-in-the-trunk bulk compared to the "golf ball with wings" design is more to do with housing a redonkulous engine and flight control surfaces, than room in the back for 2.5 kids and a set of golf clubs.

Are they rated in Flaps-per-second? How many FPS would be needed to keep a TIE Striker in the air...
DEATH! TROOPER! Well, thats stuck in my head for the rest of the day....
Why can't it be about the Tie Striker AND the video?

Right, but the TIE Striker can make 2 two green maneuvers each round. Systems Officer is not once per round.
