The Stele Open is in its 3rd year in 2017 and has grown into a unparalleled private Star Wars tabletop gaming event. We're moving into a first rate venue with tons of space and luxury accommodations at a reasonable rate, all with free shuttle service to and from Dulles International Airport, that sits a short 5 min drive away.
I work really hard to ensure that the focus at the Stele Open is on EVERYONE having a great time. The competition at the higher tables is as fierce as any premiere event, but the general feeling is fun and laid back. Lots of random door prizes and giveaways ensure that everyone has a chance to walk away with something cool.
I've also gotten pretty good at figuring out what sorts of unique swag and extras our players would like to have. Every player who walks in the door starts off with a swag bag full of great stuff!
Registration just opened on December 3rd and in only two days I have more than half as many players who showed up on event day for the 2016 event. I fully expect that this year will end up being about double the size of last year.
In addition to a huge X-Wing tournament and great Armada and IA events, The Stele Open will also be the site of one of the very first large Destiny events anywhere! We have a standard format championship tourney on Friday that can accommodate up to 120 players and a great, double-elimination Free-for-All event on Saturday night.
