Shields in Combat

By ninepointone, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hi!

I tried to search for this topic in the forums but didnt find anything so I try to put down a question instead. From what I can read in the WFRP2 corebook the shield in combat absorbs all damage if the parry is succesful.

In other RPG games I played there is a maximum of damage that a shield can take.

I.e. a troll hits a warrior with his club and the attack is a success. The damage is 0 and after another WS-test, Ulric´s fury is unleashed. Then the troll rolls another 0 and another one. This means that the blow makes a MASSIVE damage. The warrior tries to block the attack with his shield, which is a success.

Question, should the shield really absorb ANY amount of damage without any of the damage "coming through" to the warrior or shield itself being damaged?

The same question probably goes for any kind of weapon?

Regards,

Henrik

if you hit you get minimum 1 point of damage.
I use the house rule, that if damage is higher than TO+1 (TO for blunt weapons, TO+2 for melee weapons, the target has to make a "knockback test" or get knockbacked or even prone on two Banes.

There have been house rule discussions about weapon "breakage" statistics. Most people have been putting things such as, "if you roll a certain amount of chaos stars all at once or over a period of time, then your weapon has been broken" - could apply to shield too when you get hit - again house rules.
