I'm doing a list with the top three striker aces and a doom shuttle. Pure sabaac is getting snap shot stappled to the pilot card.
This ship has the dial I was hoping it would.

LF for the price should have just been a flat +1 agi with the 3agi cutoff like it has.
I dont see myself taking Mk2 engines off my SFs or my Gchips/LRS off my bombers for this. And i still wont touch a punisher.
Had it been a 0-1pt mod, maybe. The issue isnt what it does, its what it kicks out of the list. None of these ships ever go modless that benefit from LF
I am still thinking that Swarm Leader will work better on a bunch of cheap Tie Fighters than it will with /x7 Defenders. You don't want to leave your /x7 open to attack.
I think this is one of the rare EPTs that is actually better when you put it on low PS ships. One of the biggest issues with taking an Evade instead of a Focus action was that if your opponent didn't target the ship then the action was kind of wasted. Swarm Leader doesn't spend the token until the ship with Swarm Leader equipped attacks (this was the obligatory mistake in the article).
In a high PS meta you aren't really losing any defense on your defenders.
Well...the problem comes in that you have to have someone in your arc. I do agree with you that it's great on low PS if you have a shot, but it can also be used if you have Tie Fighters that took low PS Tie Fighters that have Evade, but no one in their arc. You only need 2. You don't need to fly in formation. Go ahead and actually swarm someone and see how it goes. Even if they bumped you, you can use it (as long as they are in your arc).
I think you can either go with massed low PS guys in support of the Swarm Leader to cast a wide net, or you can go with a few high PS guys to try and make dodging their arcs harder. I think the massed low PS guys is the way to go. Just make it so there's always someone shooting at them.
Can someone fill me in on this ship's lore? Or is it new in Rogue One?
I'm wondering if the 3-dice primary is just power creep or there's a legit reason that this scouting ship has more fire power than both of the Tie Advanced models.
Now im no majorjuggler, but if the ps 4 is somewhat decently priced with an ept, four of them and howlie could make a mean mini-crack-swarm
Post miniswarm

They do fold up when they land. It was shown in the Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: Scarif DLC preview gameplay videos in on the maps there are a few landed.

Lightened Frame really is a game changer for some ships. I'm beginning to think that TIE/SF and Tomax Bren are the major winners beyond the Striker itself. Even the generic TIE/SF will be in the halfway decent category. I'd rate Lightened Frame slightly better than Sensor Cluster. Generic TIE/SF are definitely better than the overcosted Tie Striker generic pilots.
i think we're VASTLY overvaluing the contribution of a paltry single additional green die for a crapton of points
Especially if it is eating a bomber's mod slot
Yeah I don't get the talk about putting it on bombers/punishers. I can understand Tie/SFs maybe, but MKII is a very solid mod for them with the mix of reds/greens it has. It's still mainly going to be for the Striker and sometimes the SF.
Lightweight Frame! Essentially adding an agility for the mod slot and 2 points! I'm definitely grabbing 5 of these babies.
It's so (too) expensive. What are you going to put it on five of?
How about this:
LF is INSANELY good.
The original Tie defender was what, 2 or 3 points overcosted for the basic ship? And you'd get three of them in a squad before x7s and it wasn't half bad. Well, you can now take 4(!) TIE s/f s with lightened frame to boost them to agi3 basically, title to make them 3 3 3 3 ships that can also fire backwards and they cost FIVE points less.
bonkers.
Plus crackshot tomax bren with your favourite crew in a shuttle is going to be ridiculous.
I don't know if I'd call it "insanely good". It doesn't do anything when you are attacked by 2 attacks ships (not at range 1) or when 3 attack ships attack you at range 3. It's a decent card for a ship that doesn't have anything better to put in its mod slot but is a bit expensive at two points.
How is it a bit expensive? Compare it with a hull upgrade, or stealth device, all you need is for it to work once and it's earned its points. Unlike SD it never goes away. Chances are with that much hull and shields, it'll proc multiple times, so on the S/F you've got an absolute bargain. Good range control means that 80% of ships you'll be running into will get filtered through the card ability.
2 pts is a great spot, at 1 it would be much too good as you'd be able to take more upgrades on S/Fs
If the opening exchange take place at range 3 against ships using a three attack primary, you'll probably take a couple of hits before it has a chance to trigger. If you don't have a focus token, Lightened Frame will stop a point of damage slightly less than once every other time it is used, and slightly more if you do.
I don't think it's useless but it isn't an insanely good upgrade. The TIE/sf is the ideal case for this upgrade as well. It has enough hull and shield that you are likely to get better results than you would have if you would have take a hull upgrade and there isn't any free modifcation that it is competing with.
People calling Lightweight frame DoA are nuts. Yes bombers want those mods, but do you know what else they want? To survive fire their ordnance. Tomax with crack shot and homing missiles has plenty of opportunity to get 3/4 hits whilst blocking evades and then having good green Dice to defend with. Really looking forward to it. Same with the SF

I mean the miniature itself.
I dont see LF helping the SFs that much. They really want Mk2 because that 3bank green is a life saver given how many reds they got.
This! A thousand times this! A TIE s/f with Mrk 2 Engines goes from 5 greens and 6 reds to having 9 greens and 6 reds. There are lots of interesting things you can do with the S/f, but with Mark 2 engines, that thing can really move!

The only bombers that would take it are Shuttles and Tomax Bren. If you're only running Tomax with Crack Shot, then this is a good way to help him survive a little longer.
Plus, it's not just adding a green die. It's adding another green die to the faction that already has Palpatine.
I sorta can't get past the blah feeling that this ship is just the TIE Phantom redone to be less broken.

It might...it seems to have the slot open for it. My guess would initially be no and they just made it visually represents how it's supposed to look with wings down with the spacing correct to put them up for landing.

I'm thinking Ghost w/Jan Crew and a few Z-95s. Hit hard.
Jan crew is one per turn.
The question is: how can I feed Corran 2 evades when he fires at PS8, and 2 more evades when firing at the end of the combat phase.
Corran needs to be able to make a pair of 5 dice attacks...
Squad Leader Railgun Lightweight Phantom?
7 Attack dice at range 1

z95 stats; difficult to keep alive
No vi for adv cloaking

Might be time to break out Lando crew to go full on jank
Lightweight Frame just made it possible for more survivable TIEs... Phantoms, Punishers, Bombers, TIE/sf...
Which Phantom are you putting it on, the ones that have ACD or the ones that have SPA? They have mods basically welded to them already. Same with Punishers and Bombers. This is only really helpful to the Striker and /sf.
I would take this mod over LRS oder Chips, it is fantastic on bombers and punishers. Especially Deathfire and Deathrain, who primarily work with bombs
I like Swarm Leader on Mauler. 6 dice from a 20 point Tie Fighter is ridiculous.
Both "deaths" are better served with lrs to complement bombs with missiles
Or just being cheaper
Esp since an extra agility, in my experience, is effectively worthless
