TIE Striker preview is up

By Jarval, in X-Wing

Lightweight Frame just made it possible for more survivable TIEs... Phantoms, Punishers, Bombers, TIE/sf...

Which Phantom are you putting it on, the ones that have ACD or the ones that have SPA? They have mods basically welded to them already. Same with Punishers and Bombers. This is only really helpful to the Striker and /sf.

I'm finding it hard to say it's useful on anything but the Tie/SF. What's a Punisher?

Yo, it's 2 points. There's no way it's going in any respectable swarm, either, cause then it wouldn't be a swarm

Oh my force, countdown

I will love and hug and cherish it forever

Or for four attacks; whichever comes first

Only if it's only being attacked once per round. Its ability only works if unstressed, so it'll fold to focus fire just like all the others.

Where are we able to see the generics? Can't find them in the article..

They only put details in for the PS1, it's in one of the hyperlinks. Click any of the images and scroll through them, it's the best way to get the actual content without needing to read the article writers' hilarious misunderstandings of the rules.

Also, that DIAL. Really, really interesting dial, especially with Ailerons.

So still no word on if the PS 4 generic is swarm-worthy with points/ept. Great.

Edit: If the PS 1 is 17 points then the only hope left is that the PS 4 will have an EPT.

That title really put this ship in a box

If it was cheaper you might put it on a Phantom, but for the same price as SPA, +1 evade versus +1 die is just no contest.

It's going to cost either 19 or 20 - there's a PS3 presumably non-elite generic and the PS1 is 17, so pricing as for the TIE Fighter, you get 19. 19 is questionable, 20 is dead in the water. I hope it's not 20.

Either way I doubt I'm getting more than one. Just maybe 2.

Countdown will take General Hux's condition card, Fanatical Devotion, all day...

Much as I liked the idea of running six for purely aesthetic reasons, it seems sensible to price the ps1 generic at 17 points, it prevents using six 3-attack ships in a list.

And that dial is interesting, without adaptive ailerons it isn't particularly fast, but it's still manouverable. I quite like Countdown, immune to being one-spotted as long as you don't stress him, could definitely use him in a few squads.

I love Countdown and his/her R4-D6 impression:

Crit immune but no EPT. Definitely doesn't need to spend the points on Lightweight Frame.

I'd spend the extra point on Stealth Device for him since it gives you the extra green dice against all attacks and it won't get knocked off unless Countdown is stressed and can't use his ability. Blount is the only ship in the game that can land hits on Countdown while he isn't stressed.

Getting him attacked multiple times a round will get the Stealth Device knocked off fairly quickly though.

Swarm leader confirmed x7 buff

Also the model is beautiful and the dial is a great change of pace

But them swarm led x7s...holy crap

It might go well on tie shuttles. For 2 points I will definitely be investing in keeping my Tie shuttle alive longer.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Dutchess is a guy.

His Catchphrases are: "LANA, LAANA, LANAAAA!" "WHAT!?" "DANGERZONE!!!"

Well, Laetin A'Shera just got marginally usefull...if you like an 18 point Punishing One title.

Eh, why do that when you can do 5 academy pilots, howl and an x7. Plenty of fodder for the railgun.

Or 4 academy pilots and budget RAC...

I like the dial; finally a TIE dial that's not going down-hill. Countdown and Pure Sabacc look like fairly cheap fun. It's a shame the Lightened Frame isn't more transferable to other ships that need a boost but need that mod slot for something else....again, an ALMOST GREAT

That mod would have been pretty good for x-wings.

noooooooo,

the PS1 is 17 points

it should have been 16 to have a chance at viability :(

that bodes poorly for the other generic pilots

Definitely won't be buying more than 2 :(

4 minutes between topic and calling it doa.

Surely a new record?

Swarm Leader is great but you better be flying in formation and deleting a ship per turn 'cause you're giving up the evades that made the support ships survive. And who can a) afford to have x7s as support and b) fly them in formation? Ryad says no.

It's like its a race to who can be the biggest downer, the fastest now isn't it?

Things that trigger when you miss will trigger when Countdown uses his ability. Gunner gets an extra shot and Rex and Operations Specialist will grant tokens.

Sigma squadrons with Lightweight frame, could they actually be viable?

because you need modifiers and youre not getting them if you evade

Unless you have x7

Or hux

Lightweight frame also pushes up Redline, since he's the TIE/Bomber-Punisher that needs GC least.

They don't need to be in formation. They just need to have the same target in arc and be within range 3 (of the target).

As long as the ship this is on is a lower PS than your opponent you will know if the evade tokens were needed for defense. I think this is one of the rare EPTs that is actually better on lower PS ships than high. The article says you spend the tokens at the start of the combat phase but the card says it triggers when the ship with the upgrade is attacking.

Still wants it though.

And still costs 40-odd points on one of the most gragile frames in the game, even with an extra defence die on most shots. He doesn't need to be made more expensive.
