TIE Striker preview is up

By Jarval, in X-Wing

Ok makes sense, thanks for all the answers

Lasers in the wingtip and on the cockpit, meaning it has 4 same as the /IN, just in different placement.

In a turret. *cough*

You don't know that.

Because here it looks like a fixed gun pod, not a turret.

Probably not, actually. If you look at a very high resolution image (like the one on Wookieepedia) it doesn't look like there's anything for the striker to rotate, it's just basically bolted onto the underside of the frame. That seam you can see in the rough outline actually runs all the way along the underside of the airframe it looks like - so unless that entire length pivots it's fixed forward.

Countdown ... the ability Fel's Wrath wish he had . .

Poor guy just cannot catch a break!

Fel's Wrath:

When Fel's Wrath is destroyed, deal one face down damage card to the ship that destroyed Fel's Wrath.

Boom! Playable!

So, wich one is the Paul Heaver card?

Because the guns on the Black Series die cast model they rotate. :D

I love Countdown and his/her R4-D6 impression:

Crit immune but no EPT. Definitely doesn't need to spend the points on Lightweight Frame.

Sorry Rinzler, not really quoting you. Just lazy and on an iPad - getting that link is a nuisance.

So... Anybody else annoyed by the artwork here? Nearly all TIEs have that big port at the back which are NOT engines. Then this comes out and uses the identical port as an engine! Argh! Continuity and consistency!

That said, I'll have to pick up one of these. It looks ridiculously fun to fly. Sure, me and TIEs have an unhappy history but surely this one will be different!

Yeah, and until I see a solid source besides just the model, I'm not sold. Looking at the actualy like very high resolution images, I don't actually see any points of articulation for it. Is it supposed to rotate 360? Because if it's just articulated slightly side to side that can be accounted in the firing arc.

I mean, StarWars.com just posted an artical highlighting the U-Wing and Striker from FFG where they talk about how it takes FFG like a year in planning and playtesting for each ship, so if the Striker is dropping now before the movie I wouldn't be surpirsed if they missed on some of it's capabilities, but until I see like an actual source that says "yeah this is turreted" I don't think we can call it. Because it really don't look like it and I have seen some real high resolution images.

Darth Vader (29)

Swarm Leader (3)

Advanced Targeting Computer (1)

TIE/x1 (0)

"Dark Curse" (16)

"Night Beast" (15)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

Academy Pilot (12)

Total: 100

Or, if you really really can't live without Engine Upgrade, you can drop Dark Curse down to Academy and get the Engine Upgrade.

Though, the more I think about it, Vader doesn't need Adv Targeting Computer if he has Swarm Leader. You won't be able to modify your die roll if you keep the TL. Well, you can Focus. Hmm....not sure.

Hmmm idk why i forgot nightbeast exists, but he is pretty boss for enabling swarm leader

Probably because there's literally ~dozen TIE pilots.

It's also grey, and not blue.

Theory time...

...is SWX58 a 'Rogue One' core set, with a grey TIE Striker model that has a title which gives it a PWT (or otherwise some ability to fire outside its primary arc) alongside a 'Partisan' paint-scheme T-65 that includes the long-awaited X-Wing fix as a title?

ATC is still too good to pass up. You can still spend the TL in the event you blank out, after all.

I dunno, my money would be on an Epic ship with Striker escort so that maybe some new other imperial cards could get bundled in their (Like Krennic or Thrawn). It'd be interesting if the Striker added a couple of titles/mods though - like for instance if you take a mobile game at face value it can deploy bombs. Or they skip it because mechanically the Striker isn't an ideal bomb platform, like how the Lambda doesn't have a rear arc even though it has full laser cannons on the rear mount.

Well there is literally no way that FFG will pass up releasing the 'partisan' repaint of the X-Wing. Not a snowball's chance in hell. I mean, heck, they even released Poe Dameron in the same ship twice to ensure they got the 'Black One' repaint of the T-70 out.

And let's not forget the plain-grey and plain-blue TIE Fighters. (And Advanced...and, almost, bombers...)

FFG loves releasing their repaints, and this one would have several pilots from 'Rogue One' that are stars of the movie, and so far aren't in any of the ships announced to date. Nevermind the needed T-65 fix.

So...for definitely, 100%, absolute , sure....the 'partisan X-Wing' is coming. Question is just..."where?"

That we seem to have a TIE Striker at odds with the film version (blue instead of grey...fixed guns instead of a turret) is the thing that has me scratching my head as to whether they would be combined. (And it need not even be a 'core set', of course. Maybe a two-ship pack like the various '... Aces' / '... Veterans' /etc releases.)

Well, R1 also has blue-marking X-Wings too, so a double X-Wing pack like Imperial Aces might not be out of the question to get two different color schemes. The fact that T65 X's have been lagging has been noted by FFG recently even, so I have no doubt that a revitalization is coming, because that has turned around all kinds of ships in the past. Hell, Defenders didn't start this good.

Double striker decimator build ISN'T happening...such awesome paint schemes that could have happened.

Oh good lord I never realized how similar the two look. That's just plain criminal.

I had high hopes but it's just a few points short for a real squad. It's is criminal.

Oh you can do it. But I wanted it to be awesome...like instant meta competitor awesome. Worth reprinting a squad for.

You can Oiccunn ok too... All the deci builds just feel like "light versions" of really good deci builds. Kenkirk there looks interesting though.

So how would Lightweight frame work on a phantom? get the extra agility only when uncloaked?

you can equip it no prob because of the printed 2 agi, but it will essentially only work while uncloaked, yes. If your opponent did manage to throw 5 dice at you while cloaked though, it would trigger

Not really an effective or top-tier list, but I can finally fly Omega Squadron:

“Omega Leader” (28) TIE/fo Fighter (21), Hyperwave Comm Scanner (1), Swarm Leader (3), Stealth Device (3)

“Omega Ace” (29) TIE/fo Fighter (20), Comm Relay (3), Push the Limit (3), Stealth Device (3)

Omega Squadron Pilot (21) TIE/fo Fighter (17), Comm Relay (3), Crack Shot (1)

Omega Squadron Pilot (21) TIE/fo Fighter (17), Comm Relay (3), Crack Shot (1)

HCS lets Omega Leader Evade up the entire block at the start of the game. The Omega Squadron Pilots are wingmen for OL, who can get some extra dice to throw at the opponent who can't modify their defense dice. Is it as good as the classic Comm Relay/Juke combo? Probably not. Still, nice to fly an all ______ Squadron pilot list.

You know, I'm not sure how to get it to work, but Swarm Leader Omega Ace is a terrifying thought. Setting up a target lock and a focus is not easy without push the limit (although an Upsilon Shuttle could help) - but being able to look at a shields-down ghost at range 1 and say "take 5 face-up damage cards" is.......insane.

Hmmm idk why i forgot nightbeast exists, but he is pretty boss for enabling swarm leader

"Chaser", too. Evade for your action, and snag a higher PS pilot's focus token out of the air when they spend it.

  • Howlrunner - Juke
  • Scourge - Swarm Leader
  • Mauler Mithel - Snap Shot
  • Night Beast
  • Chaser
  • Academy Pilot

A decent PS (mostly) block, 6 primary attacks, Howlrunner's reroll, 2 guys with extra attack dice, 2 guys who can generate action-cheap evades - and Howlrunner will probably evade anyway, so you've got a 'third' evade donor if you need it.
