What do you guys think of this? The idea is to increase the survivability of the Ghost, especially in case of nimbler enemies that aren't reliably hit by the TLT (in which case I'll generate Focus tokens).

I think I don't want to face that list.

Kanan is a mean mean man.

If you're looking at new material, why not this instead:

Kanan Jarrus (54)

VCX-100 (38), Ghost (0), Fire-Control System (2), Twin Laser Turret (6), Operations Specialist (3), Jyn Erso (2), Experimental Interface (3)

This saves 2 points, enough to put R5-P9 on Biggs. The way things are worded, you have a chance of generating a focus in the end phase as well, allowing you to generate the focus for R5-P9 after all the shooting has happened. Since Jyn doesn't specify primary firing arc, your rear arc counts too, allowing for you to generate as much focus as there are likely ships who can fire at you.

I think you are on to something, and you may see multiple iterations of this next year when these cards are released.

I think I would rather put a Rec Spec on Kanan. It is only 1 point more and will be more reliable I think. Although Rex is nice on a ship with a double-tap, the chances of the Ghost's chunky primaries doing no damage (especially with a TL from FCS) are pretty low. Also you will be generating those Focus tokens when Kanan shoot at PS5. Against higher PS opponents, you will want those Focus tokens at the start of the turn in order to power Kanan's ability.

Also EU is only mediocre at PS5 and Kanan really wants to be Focussing (plus you may leave Biggs behind).

Good ideas. So I get this right: I basically Focus and Jyn, so I get two Focus on the Ghost and at least one on Biggs?

This is where it gets tricky. Jyn's ability requires an Action. That means if you use her, the Ghost cannot perform any other action (including Focus) which makes putting Jyn and Rec Spec on the same ship kinda redundant. Rec spec costs 3 points and guarantees 2 Focus. Jyn costs 2 points, provides anything from 1-3 tokens but can pass those tokens onto nearby friendlies if you want.

Since you are planning on getting Sabine's Tie anyway (to get Rex), how about a different way to approach the problem. This build uses Ahsoka in the captured Tie to give extra free actions to Kanan. This allows Kanan to Focus in the activation phase for 2 tokens (or use Jan to make it 1 Focus and 1 Evade). Then at the start of the combat phase, Ahsoka spends her Focus token to give Kanan a free action which he uses to trigger Lando. This gives him up to 2 more Focus/Evade tokens to make him even tougher. Ahsoka's free action does not cause Kanan to become stressed which is a big plus. I like the boosted firepower that FCS brings to the table, especially when firing twice.

EU is worth it on Kanan as I like the idea of arc dodging as a free action at the start of the combat phase after all other ships have moved. :D

56 Kanan Jarrus (38), FCS (2), Twin Laser Turret (6), Recon Specialist (3), Lando (3), EU (4), Ghost (0)

22 Ahsoka Tano (17), Veteran Instincts (1), Jan Ors (2), Captured TIE (1), Sabine's Masterpiece (1)

22 Ezra (20), Hera (1), Rage (1), Phantom (0)

Total: 100

This list does leave Biggs behind but Kanan has up to 4 defensive tokens per turn and Ahsoka cannot be attacked by anyone with a PS less than 9 until she attacks.

But in the previous build, I'd have Experimental Interface, so I actually can use Jyn AND the Rec Spec, and repeat that as long as I fly green (tricky with TLT, of course).

And honestly I don't plan on buying Sabine's Tie, I'm so far flying only with players and in tournaments where printouts aren't an issue, and so far I wasn't interested in the thing if only for thematic reasons.

This is my lates take on heavy focus Kannan

Can you elaborate?

You might be on to something come W10, though I wouldn't bother with Chewy (well, not at least until Mr. Temper Tantrum becomes a meta mainstream). Kanan misses attacks, though the timing of the TLT might mean Rex doesn't proc often. And Biggs misses attacks because he never modifies them. I would propose swapping Chewy for Rey though. Now your opponent has to decide between letting 1 damage go through, or giving you a focus token, either for the end phase attack or to hold on to. Though due to the timing table, both TLT shots need to miss to generate a Focus. So with that in mind, I'm not sure Rex is better than Recon. If you have the points, Op Spec is hands down better than Captain Rex. I'm actually a little miffed they're being released at the same time. At least if you went with Op Spec, Biggs is likely to generate a Focus token for Kanan or Biggs. It's definitely something worth considering, but I would think that you want to probably drop to the ICT at that point - and while the ICT doesn't do as much damage, its ability to control the board might end up making it the better choice when coupled with a F token if it misses. But at the end of the day, Op spec has to be generating at least 1 focus token to be better than Recon Spec (I say 1 because it is useful to be able to have an action that's not Focus). I could see the scenario where you consistently take Evade action, pass a F from Rey, use it to reduce the incoming fire, miss one shot, generate a F, hit with the other shot, pass the F back to Rey. Rinse and repeat. This isn't actually possible with Recon Spec (unless coupled with Jan, but now you're paying 5 points for it as well, and it isn't as flexible) since you get 2 F tokens, but no Evade token.

I am always troubled if you can shut down all the shenigans with one block.

Unfortunately my take is one point over and I have no clue what I would be willing to switch.

"Zeb" Orrelios (18) - Attack Shuttle

Phantom (0)

Biggs Darklighter (28) - X-Wing

M9-G8 (3), Integrated Astromech (0)

Kanan Jarrus (55) - VCX-100

Advanced Sensors (3), Twin Laser Turret (6), Jyn Erso (2), Kyle Katarn (3), Ghost (0), Experimental Interface (3)

This way you get fully a whole lot of modified TLT shots (Foci & M9G8) and Kanans actions cannot be blocked.

Maybe switch out Kyle for Dash to make it 100p?

Well with my list you need to start at edge of play field using ghost to cover hawk and go as slow as possible at the beginning of the game first 2-3 turns both ghost and hawk goes 1 straight. you want to save as many focus tokens on kyle as you can before engaging opponent ships. Then quickly flying with ghost into range 1 and keeping the ghost between enemy ships and hawk.
