My favorite thing about x-wing miniatures is winning with an awful fleet. My philosophy has influenced my local x-wing group to the point where accusing someone of building a "Meta" fleet is pretty much the worst way you can insult another player. "Well sure you won... but your fleet is pretty meta." It keeps the game much more interesting because people build fleets that are fun rather than fleets that are focused on winning at any cost.
