Lazy players follow the meta. Dedicated players create the meta. If you want to see more of a particular ship in the game, find the synergies, put in the time and the effort. Make it work.
Couldn't have said it better myself
Tournament results will always be, at best, an imperfect data set. Player skill (and practice) is a massive factor. But to simply dismiss concerns over a ship's effectiveness by essentially saying "git gud" is to miss the point entirely.
A skilled player with 100's of reps could take the "trench run" combo of Luke, Wedge, and Biggs could probably win any number of store championships and make the cut and many regionals. That same player with the same 100's of reps with commonwealth defenders (Ryad, Vess, and Palp shuttle) would win a LOT more games much more easily.
Maybe the title is over-stating but there have been strong points made about accretion and power-creep. Valid concerns about the future of X-wing (both the ship and the game) exist. Dismissing them out of hand is silly.
One of my two big FLGSs just stopped stocking X-Wing and is no longer reserving tables for its play one day a week. =(
I still have the other FLGS, which recently doubled its number of tables, so not all is lost. It's pretty shocking, but this area never had Armada take root - as in I never saw anyone playing it ever. That has to say something about the city's population, not just the games, right?
Maybe an X-Wing 2.0 with a simplified timing scheme and revised balance can inject new life and bring new players to the game.
You are suggesting the best selling miniatures game that sells as much product as they seem to be able to produce needs a 2.0 to "inject new life and bring new players to the game"
I don't even no where to begin reacting to this... Let's start with What?
THATS IT!
At regionals I'm going to fly Biggs, 2 Rookies, and Etahn. I'll win, and all of a sudden E's and X's will be OP.

When they're getting dropped completely at one FLGS and reduced at the other...
Games such as these tend to have regional differences.

Ok because your flgs dropped a highly popular and successfull game they better re boot the entire game?
Your universe must feel very claustrophobic. But at least you are at the centre of it.
Except that every second movie will be set in the OT period. So with the OT firmly behind us and Disney releasing new movies every year I think it is safe to say that those cinematic battles from Episodes IV through VI are gone.
Okay so short of a Disney Special Edition can you show me a scene with an U-wing or a TIE Striker in Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back, or Return of the Jedi? Not eve G. Lucas put them in the OT.
No, but I've seen scenes with X-wings and Y-wings in Rogue One trailers, I guarantee that at least the X-wing will get a Rogue One rererelease, if it isn't SWX58 we will get in within a year, like the HotR.
I have thought the same.. now that we actually see new pilots on the cinema screen... It would be very odd if we do not see a T-65 with a blue/beige paintjob, new pilots and hopefully some sort of fix..
T65 will never be back, because now the standart 3 dice jouster with 4HP and built-in repositionning is 17pts.
Tell that to Biggs or Wes.
Tell that to Biggs or Wes.
Not to mention people pretty much said the same thing as Gildhil did, about the Defender.
Edit: Also which Rebel ship has 4hp, 3 attack dice and costs 17 points?

And Defender effectively eats T65 for breakfast, as a Striker swarm will do.
And Defender effectively eats T65 for breakfast
That didn't used to be true, which is the whole point. Because if they can take Defenders from what they were to being a defining part of the meta, they can do the same with T-65's.
Also I have yet to see a answer to the question about that 17 point ship.

17 pts is really cheap for a 3 dice jouster with repositionning and 3 effective defense dice against "standart" 3 dice attacks (lightweight frame).
Hence, it can outjoust T65s easily.
But I admit the problem is maybe not in the 17pts Striker, but in the 21pts T65.

The Tie Striker has nothing to with if the T-65 should or will be fixed, since it's not a Rebel ship.

Well, I see your problem. Your math doesn't add up.
I think a 19 pt Striker will be comparable to a 22 pt Rookiee. I mean, if you are going to get into adding upgrades, might as well add an R2 and Integrated Astromech if you are going to add Lightweight Frame.
Even then, the T65 is not the better ship.
But yeah, I didn't say that must prevent other factions from getting goods ships. It just makes the difference more and more evident each wave.
And yet, Biggs is a better pilot than all the Striker pilots...

I fear Biggs IS the problem here. I would happily see him FAQed to "once per turn", then move on with something interesting, like a Rogue Squadron title ![]()
I fear Biggs IS the problem here.
That is likely an issue to balance. Everything done to make the T-65 more survivable makes Biggs even better and possibly meta bending.
They could buff offence, not defence ![]()
T-65 lacks titles and it will get them.

Hopefully in SWX58
