He looks competitive for me, especially when attacking targets with high health points. His double attack looks good.

Is he around during tournaments or does he have he some disadvantages I am not aware of?

If he had 12 health, he' be a really good card, even 10 pts and a way to recover might give him a chance. Right now, I can't think of a single figure I would take in competitive skirmish, where I would pay more pts than they have health. Usually, the good deployments have a point cost of 50-75% to their health and/or good abilities. Elite Stormtroopers 9 pts ... 15 health, good surges and abilities. Gideon 3pts ... 5 health awesome abilities. Obiwan 7 pts ... 12 health, awesome abilities. Look at the Nexu, people still take them and they're from the core set. People still use Rebel Sabs and Luke and Leia more for their abilities. Look at the jet troopers cost to health, Rancor etc

Ah ok thanks. I was comparing him with Obi Wan, but your arguments sounds right concnering health points. Obi Wan has a lot more health. I guess first wave expansions are not entirely well balanced and FFG had to find a sense for point costs? A pity for Biv, he has good abilities (at least for me)

He hits pretty hard, if you can line up a focused attack with his close and personal and not have the defender roll dodge you're going to do some serious damage. But then he dies in a hurry. He has to be close to use his ability, which means he's going to be hit back hard. He really needs 12 health. I've never played him as just a ranged shooter though, he has a great 3 attack dice ranged attack, his surges aren't bad, not great but not terrible. I'd like to try him as just a shooter if possible, but then he's still probably too expensive. Unfortunately most of those early sets had poor point cost to health ratios even up to the Hoth expansion.

One of my regular opponents uses him a lot and although I still think he's overcosted he seems to get value out of him most of the time.

I really like Biv and have been using him lately. His health is really a drawback... based on his cost. I had Biv get one one shot by a hk....

I watched your video Rich, and Biv shot, put 6 on Luke, then took two attacks to the face and died, and that was with his extra defensive rule in full effect.

My experience is similar, except I always make sure I get a close combat double attack out of him at least. But with a black die and his conditional extra defense, he basically dies to two elite Stormtroopers, and that's not good for 9 pts (see Estormies)

I want to like the guy and use him, just like I want to use Saska, Loku, Chewbacca, Han, etc, but they just don't justify their cost Chewie and Han are going to get more than one attack and activation because of their health, figures like Biv, Jyn, Loku, Saska, usually don't. If Biv was 4-5 pts, you could use him as a suicide attack, go put serious damage on a character and then die. But at 9 pts you can get elite echo base troopers and a bonus pt or elite rebel troopers who self focus or lots of other figures
