A gap in the SKU numbers designed to drive gamers crazy with speculation.
What do you hope SWX58 is vs. What do you really think SWX58 is

In my eyes, there are only two reasons for the omission:
It is a cancelled product, that we don't know about.
-OR-
It is something Rogue One Related. Honestly, I feel this is the more likely. Whether a T-65 pack, Starter, or what not, I can see whatever related Rogue One product being delayed until they have proper names and idea of characters to use, whether General Mereick or Zal Innes. There was a, I think, large number of people who disliked the Blue Ace and Red Ace. Having nameless or generic names for the Imperial/First Order is one thing, they are the nameless villians so it kind of makes sense, but for the Rebels/Resistance it doesn't work.
There is also the issue of the Poe pilot skill increase, where I feel the developers didn't realise HOW good a pilot Poe was supposed to be when they wrote the product. It was done before the movie was released and obviously done without any prior info about the film. SWX58 is probably held back, whatever it is, to avoid this issue.
Partisan T65 surely.
Either Aces pack with a t65 fix or scum Epic.
Do we really think another starter is likely? Force Awakens was a massive merchandising reboot for the entire Star Wars universe, and came a few years after X Wing. A starter now would seem both a little hasty (though there HAVE been an enormous amount of hard rules changes and FAQ updates since then) and set the awkward precedent of a new starter with every Star Wars film for the next 658 years or however long Disney has them scheduled.
Then again, I suppose it's a pretty good pitch as far as content development goes (since it can act as a patch, more elegant FAQ, and recycling/testing ground for existing ships all in one) so who knows. Anyways...
Likely: Partisan X Wing, Rebel Veterans, or Scum Aces
Hope: Star Jewel w/Jabba crew that allows for whole new kinds of Scum lists (like Palp).
Perhaps: They were asked to cook up a Krennic's Shuttle or Cargo Lambda expansion and someone eventually convinced the powers that be that the Empire didn't need two new Shuttles at once, on top of the one they already had.
Scum Aces. If not then why not? Would make sense with the Imp Vets and HOTR release. And while a Rogue 1 release would make some sense it also would not for release quatity. It would give the Rebels a total release count between HOTR and the new wave of 6 new ships while imps have 4 and scum are just getting the quadjumper. So a scum release makes the most sense.
So long story short i both hope and believe it will be some sort of scum aces pack.

What about SWX58 beeing X-Wing the rulebook, with updated rules, all released missions and more and stats for all released ships?
Now what i would like to have would be Scum Aces or the Partisan X-Wing (you can never have too many X-Wings
), what i think it will be is either something cancelled or just some tokens, templates or something like that.
I'd like for it to be more X-Wings (Or X/Y pack Rebel Veterans, give Rebel Players the bonuses for Ys in Most Wanted) or a campaign pack to release new pilot/upgrades for prexisting ships and maybe get a new way to play the game on the table.
I'd guess however it's a product which has been delayed in playtesting or licensing, or some other kind of hang up which means it's not going to be ready any time soon or stuff about it is still in flux so there's nothing to preview and if it's actually a regular ship expansion it might be waiting for a new wave to piggyback onto.
As much as I actually wouldn't mind a ground combat SW minis game from FFG, I hope it's not attached to the XWM product line, because I'd want some slightly different mechanics.
Probably a new core set with a resistance x wings and two tie strikers.
Hope:
Campaign box with new pilots and upgrades for X and Y wings. This would make me so very happy.

I bet you're right about something being held up in play testing or licensing. I'm really hoping that they continue to play test stuff to make sure it is as balanced as possible. And as far as a ground system goes, I agree ground units should behave totally differently and use different templates and mechanics. I think it would be best if ground units moved first and then proceed in normal order. Also ground units should not be able to block flying units and should have a "siloette" of themselves on their base so they could be removed in case of a bump and the flying unit should be able to stop "above" the ground unit. There are hundreds of ideas that could work.
It's clearly a Mass Effect / Dark Forces inspired game, using Battlefront quality graphics and sound and published by anyone other than EA.
.. and if it's not ... then it should be.

I mean, if we want to suggest/speculate on a ground wargame, personally I'd like something more keenly objective based, and with a different dice system more like how I think Armada (and some other of the games) works, where it's not a flat "attack" stat, but say, a squad of rebel pathfinders or scout-troopers could have a long range attack which rolls fewer dice, but those dice are more accurate/damaging to represent long range rifles with slow fire rates, and then they have a side arm pool that isn't as accurate/damaging but has more dice at shorter range, or say a heavy weapon team with an upgrade for MANPADS would have a huge pile of powerful dice to roll against an enemy air target but nothing for enemy grunts, etc. If it's compatible with X-Wing, that's interesting, but I have concerns about scale since an AT-AT in XWM's scale would be 2 x-wing lengths high, and just shy under that long, that could be awkward.
But that's an entirely different direction of conversation.
HOPE: Disney Parks Exclusive Starspeeder 3000 with fun themed pilots and upgrades: Pilots could be RX-24; "Ace"; C-3PO; I could see an upgrade bar with crew, cannon and astromech icons. This could be a great tie-in to the Star Tours ride and grab a pretty good cross-section of collectors, thus raising awareness of the game further.
LIKELY: Nothing - a non-starter of a product that they are going to let us speculate on for the next three years before Alex Davy makes some offhand remark in an unrelated interview that it never came to pass.
well, Disneyland did come out with the exclusive Starspeeder 1000 vehicle sooooooo . . .
Originally I thought a new core with Striker and U-wings, new damage deck, replacing the old core, while containing the cards which are only in that one (Luke, Biggs, R2D2, R2F2, Mauler, Night Beast, Dark Curse). The X and TIE l/n could still be get over the expansions. Maybe even a big box, containing even X and TIE l/n and updated rule book with flow chart.
But that was long before the Striker and U-wing as individual FFG expansions revealed.
And Partisan was one grizzly pic leaked.
Hoping:
R1 story campaign box, containing cards like K2SO, maybe Krennic etc. But probably not that likely.
Or
Scum Aces with Kihraxz and Viper fix. Unlikely, why should they be silent for so long?
I can't imagine it being anything other than a Rogue One associated product.
I would really like it if it was a campaign product, that opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities and offers something specifically for those who aren't focused on the tournament scene.
It's getting too late, swx59 and 60 are going to be relased shortly. Cancelled product probably.
Hoping for a Scum epic. Expecting a Scum epic.
A Deathstar.
Not in scale with the ships, obviously.
Cheers
Baaa

I looked right at that thing in Star Traders and didn't buy it. STILL kicking myself ![]()
Hope it's a complete campaign expansion themed to rogue one but contains so many spoilers they couldn't release it before the movie and contains a new xwing with paint job and fixes.
Edited by GungoWas going to buy one of these for the computer room, but it is way overpriced for what would amount to a decoration. Hopefully I'll find it on a discount at some point. I'm confident at some point soon my wife is going to snap from all my star wars spending lately.
