Fleet Command Upgrades

By Card Knight, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Typing this up really quick right now, so I can't quite add in pictures.

So the Fleet Command upgrades. Since they are at the start of the ship phase, can you spend a "blank" token from ANY ship to trigger the effect? Or does it have to be from the Pelta?

I kind of like it if you can do it from any ship. The upgrade just sits there on the Pelta and can be triggered from anywhere in the fleet.

"You" would be the Pelta. So it would have to be from it.

Incorrect.

YOU on upgrade cards means "The Ship with this Upgrade"

Hmm. I'm trying to think of a counter to this but I don't think I've got anything.

The only things that come to mind are things like Titus or GSRs or something. They both reference "you" but the outcome doesn't really matter unless that ship is hyperspaced.

Perhaps the Rule Quote itself will help you give up the fight?

You do not have to be the ship that is activating, or active, or even be on your turn, depending on the Trigger involved.....

But "You" always refers to the Ship the Upgrade is on...

• On upgrade card effects, the term “you” refers to the ship that the upgrade is equipped to.

I mean, take Admiral Titus, as your example:

"You". is still referring ot the Ship that Admiral Titus is on... The Trigger is "At the first round"... You may feel that "you" refers to the player, but it does not... The Ship is doing it. Don't ask how (Super Tractor beam!)... Just accept the Ship is Doing it... because it has Titus on Board.

Paragon was the first time this kind of wording caused confusion. Paragon only works on itself. YOU means the ship the upgrade is equipped to.

Yeah I accept it....i just don't WANT to accept it haha.

And yeah, like I said/has been said, if Titus is on a Hyperspaced ship, you don't get his effect.
