With FCTs from a nearby ship shifting them forwards before the squadron commands. Who needs independence now?

fun fact: Both updates cost 8 points, like Independence.

Much more fun fact: for the same cost of 8 points, they move 4 and attack.

FFG really needs erratas for the old upgrades!

The Independence upgrade is on a much more durable ship, and is a lot easier to pull off as it you only need one ship and one activation. I think it's balanced correctly.

Well, it can be argued that MC80 and Indepedence is a lot more durable!

@SoonerTed --- haha... you beat me!

And hey, they fixed the Sato debate! Replace before rolling.

At least for his individual card... The full spread has a different version.

Actually, FCT + Speed 3 is faster than speed 4, since distance 1 is longer than the other distances and they move that distance twice. Also, a Pelta with AFFM and FCT can do it by itself, with a potential of activating 5 squadrons (compared to 6 with the MC80).

Still, how many times do you want to move squadrons without them attacking? Once, twice max per matches? It's still overpriced. Phoenix Home gives a lot more flexibility

That's provided the article is correct.

I can't see any role for the assault variant. it just seems likes a poor man's glad 2. For 4 more points, blues vs blacks, and 2 extra squad command. plus an offensive retrofit (I'm looking at boosted comms or hangar bays.)

Methinks Sato will be a Rebel staple, but I don't think he'll be around Phoenix Home as his automatic choice. However, I do recall another beleaguered Rebel general obsessed with tokens that the Fleet Command upgrades practically beg for.

I'm disappointed in the lack of Flechette Whatsits And Rapid Launch Doohickeys, though I hold out hope the latter will be spoiled in one of the squadron articles.

Well, it's not. Because there are two versions of the card. But I'm betting that the new version is correct and they just forgot/overlooked the original spread.

Assault is for ship-heavy fleets where you don't need a carrier and you'd rather have a heavier (albeit slower) Raider to hurl inconvenient Ordnance crits. I know I can find use for it, though I also think like an Imperial.

Edit: Though I am mildly surprised by the size of the cost difference between the two at only four points. I would have guessed six or seven just given the cards without that.

I like the Fleet Commands because it makes the fleet feel more uniform and actually under the guidance of a single leader. I was against the Imps from getting this, but I actually feel like the game would be better if both sides had upgrades like this. It allows for more versatility and feels very thematic.

I find it interesting that there isn't a "Maximum Firepower" or something fleet command for concentrate fire.

I think you just requested Admiral Thrawn. I second the motion.

Ahsoka and Garm with fleet command?

Assuming the Imperials ever get their hands on this upgrade type, I would expect it to debut there. I imagine FFG will have a bear of a time balancing that though, given how they have costed other armament improvements, and those have always been single ship cards.

One thing I noticed is this boosts Imperial TIE builds, or at least we will see a lot more of TIEs. TIEs fight best close to their carrier, and swarms of them will be needed to keep Rebel Scum from getting within 1 of the capital ships to activate Sato's ability.

Soooooo can a ship using tano's ability be able to have multiple of a single type of token????

If it existed, it would probably see more play than any of the others. This gives us three real options instead of 1 real and 3 non options.

honestly, the 3 upgrades are sexy enough to still be considered options!

The shield one might be the weakest.

don't think so....but I was confused when they mentioned using multiple engy tokens....

That's a good question! Articles have a dubious history, but the explanation for Shields to Maximum states "...you can convert each engineering token assigned to Phoenix Home into a point of shields for every ship in your fleet." Phoenix home might let you stack up the same token for an improved effect.

No you can't have multiple of the same token.
