Man rebels really have to pay a premium for their commanders.
Phoenix Home!
I wonder how much of us going nuts about that card made them go back and change the wording?
What is this wave got delayed because of us?! jk
Printing cards may be done in the US. They seem to be able to print lots of alternate art cards for competitions in quite low volumes (worlds prizes of 64 or even 8 cards etc.) which may suggest they pack them all up when the models come of the boat from China.
This is purely a fluff thing, but it's kind of funny that I would almost never consider actually putting my commander on the Phoenix Home
My only problem with the whole expansion is that Phoenix Home is just so ridiculously good - and comparatively cheap - that you would be stupid to leave it out form any Rebel fleet. And if any ship becomes a must have, then it's a bad expansion.
Minimum 61 points for the ship + the fleet command upgrade (which is the real reason you're taking them) for a fairly fragile and slow ship that doesn't contribute much to the fight directly isn't going be auto include, especially in Rebels. Builds relying on a bunch of small, fast ships aren't going to care about it
Alright, just throwing it out there. People are complaining about how ridiculously cheap the Pelta is. You know the Empire has a ship that can go from speed 1 to speed 4 and THEN shoot at close range AFTER its moved? For roughly the same amount of points as anything the Pelta can do with upgrades? And for most its an auto-include?
The Imperials have their Gunboat, the Rebels get their bomber/ship support ship for the same cost.
I can't see any role for the assault variant. it just seems likes a poor man's glad 2. For 4 more points, blues vs blacks, and 2 extra squad command. plus an offensive retrofit (I'm looking at boosted comms or hangar bays.)
Its clearly a platform for the new Flechett XXXX ordenance upgrade card. I can imagine one of this with engine tech to simply block squadrons.
What's the consensus on the shields upgrade? One ship in the fleet or every ship in the fleet?

Every ship as it activates
Ooh another thought. Since Derlin is before you suffer damage, the blue crit (MS1?) of Exhaust one card attached to the defending ship actually works quite well. 2 Point crit to stop a damage reduction.
Its a Mixed-Relationship with Garm...
Garm LOVES getting those Tokens Turn 1 and 5..
But even WITH Phoenix Home... He's only giving it 2 Tokens... because its based on Command Value, not what it could hold...
So then you might want Tano nearby to be flipping that choice of token to the token you want.

Calling it now, Ahsoka "fixes" Garm.
Absolutely. The biggest news for Garm lovers is how much this expansion buffs him.
Dang it the only thing missing from the article is Flechettes! I REALLY want to know what those do...
Both the Flechettes and the Rapid Launch Bays (we assume). Flechettes (as have already been mentioned by someone earlier in this thread) seem to allow you to spend a black dice against a squadron to push it to activated. Very good for a black dice flak ship that wants to babysit nearby buddies from enemy squadrons and could definitely make the Assault Pelta more appealing if we're right, as it would want to be in there with its little brothers, the CR90Bs, and big brothers, the MC30s, when they're being run in an aggro knife-fighter fleet (Mothma/Cracken/Rieekan are all good choices there).
If Flechettes work as expected, I'd also expect to see it used on Raider-Is and the occasional jank tank VSD-I (bare minimum: VSD-I + Agent Kallus + Flechettes = you can attack all squadrons at medium range in one arc and flip all the unique ones to activated because Kallus adds a black dice you then spend; would definitely recommend Gunnery Team as well to make it less niche but that's not strictly required).
Probably should go in a Rules Forum question, but the Fleet Command upgrades: Since its at the start of the Ship Phase, you can discard a given token from ANY ship to achieve the effect, correct? Not just from the Pelta?
Edited by Card KnightSo does the Fleet Command upgrade slot suggest new ship cards to be used with already released models? i.e. New Mc80 ships cards that can then take Fleet Commands. Perhaps a flagship title or something for any ship that would add the upgrade.

"If we were to do this sort of thing, then a Campaign would be the perfect vector for it, but we have no plans at this time."

With Comms Net flotilla(s) and/or Tantive IV nearby and/or Raymus onboard, I think you're pretty much good to go. Garm is a big help there too, though and the Phoenix Home allows him to no longer have anti-synergy with those other token-passing effects. Given the fleet commands when used seem to mimic the effect of a command token spend (moreso for engineering and nav) they also have synergy with Garm in that you could trigger Entrapment Formation!, for example, and spend nav tokens to change ship speed across your fleet throughout the turn by up to 2 with no actual command dials required. That specific combination seems pretty great with many Rebel ships but particularly Nebulon-Bs given they love going from speed 1 "sniper mode" to speed 3 "holy crap run away they're getting too close" mode.
Sort of.
He said they wouldn't do new ship cards in a campaIgn. New ships would only be with models. So, more of an Aces style X-Wing set.
But new Titles that could come in a campaign box.

This.
Either way.
Mostly I like how the Fleet Command Upgrades have the inherent limitation of "at the start of the Ship Phase" - so you basically have to either have Garm Turn 1/5, or have the Token Delivered before the end of the Turn - And Keep it - to use it the next turn... As you have no opportunity to slap a token on there from any other source before using it...
More thoughts:
I still love that picture of the Assault Class Pelta. I desperately want an Alt Art of that.
Walex might be pretty nice on the Pelta, especially if you can have another officer.
I also laugh at an Expanded Launcher Pelta. That seems funny to me.

I predict an FAQ allowing the Phoenix Home to take the 4 from Garm. Just because dang it.

Sato on Home One nearby, Squadrons in Place, it diving into battle.... Is a Red-Acc and 6 Black Dice with a conFire...

Such an FAQ would simultaniously reduce Relentless to only being able to have 2 Command Tokens.
That is the level of the Errata-wizardly required.
I think I may end up using the Assault more often. The extra damage potential will be nice both against ships and squadrons. I'm more likely to use my flotillas for squadron commands anyways.

Absolutely. I demand Errata-wizardry!
I find it interesting Ashoka is an officer for a capital ship as we only ever see her as a pilot in Rebels. Of course she did seem to reintroduce the Marg Sabl maneuver to galactic warfare so she's a capable strategic mind for large scale battles. I just hope we see her again as an A-Wing Ace at some point.

Garm:
At the start of the first round and the fifth round, each friendly ship may gain a number of command tokens equal to its command value.
Phoenix home:
You can be assigned up to 4 command tokens instead of a number of command tokens equal to your command value.
Wouldn't the title value "replace" the Garm restriction, since it uses "instead"?
