Okay. Add the BTL and R2D6, a discarded droid at that, and you get a 35 point deadly accurate sniper with a pretty sturdy frame. It's an investment but it could work with proper wingmates to protect or draw fire.
Meh. Maybe?

The problem is that 35 point investment caps off at 2 damage.
4. Primary weapon then TLT. Still not much these day.

That is assuming that you put damage through on your 2 attack dice primary.
IMO I think you get more out of Predator than you do with marksman

This is Horton Salm. He has Super-predator built in.
I can do you 26 points with 8 dice potential at range 1.
Grey Sqn, R2-D6, Snap Shot, BTL-A4, Dorsal Turret.
Or go all in,
4 x Grey Sqn Pilots, R2-D6, Snap Shot, BTL-A4, Autoblaster Turret. 100 pts. Curious to see how they'd joust, if you can manage the engagement to get snap shot off as well on all 4.
Edited by boomasterYou get great offensive mods but that's it. With BTL you really need a way to manoeuvre post-dial, and you could take VTs, but that means you're not able to do both, and if you get any stress you have horrible stress clearance capacity.
Horton needs a native EPT to be good.

Edit: wait... Predator on Salm? Why? Salm has his own re-rolls.

I'm not arguing that this is the next Salm. It's not. Cards have also been out for a year to make this happen so efficiency and history stink. It's a lot of points. Too many. the rest of the list suffers for it.
Edit: typed next Salm... Meant next Fel which is similar price range.
Edited by LagJansonWired. Pick up a stress and keep it. Effectively gives you full Target Locks for all attacks, with a defensive re-roll thrown in for good measure.

R2-D6 is unique no?
R2-D6 is unique no?
It sure is, but that list could still be viable and deadly enough with an R2 astro on each Y-Wing.
R2-D6 is unique no?
It is. Otherwise, I'd fly 4x Rookie Pilots with Predator, R2-D6, and IA all day long.
I like the idea you are going for, though Salm's ability doesn't work at range 1, so that's a consideration too. Maybe try him with Torps. He would be extremely accurate with Protorps, 31 points gets you Salm, Protorps, EM, and chimps. 33 would tack on a Targeting Astromech, so you could K-turn and fire away. High PS means you'd be able to smack defenders really well, and 33 points does allow you decent room for the rest of your list.
I would drop the title personally, its still way to expensive though.
I've had some success out of TLT Kavil with Marksmanship. Marksmanship Horton is very close to the same accuracy and has the option of flying with a certain mustachioed fellow.

Yeah, I can dream can't I.
How about this more legal option:
Dutch - BTL-A4, Autoblaster Turret, R5-K6
2 x Grey Squadron Pilots, Targeting Astromech, BTL-A4, Autoblaster Turret
1 x Grey Squardon Pilot, R2-D6, Snapshot, BTL-A4, Autoblaster Turret
If Dutch takes a TL action, he grants a free to another ship, if he spends it and rolls evade on a green die then he regains his lock and hands out another lock to one of the other Y's, the Targeting mechs grant TL's on reds so even if they have to K turn they still got some economy.
Probably FULL of holes and potentially easy for an ace list to out maneuver, but it might be interesting to fly.
Edited by boomasterHeh. I just took it to a small tournament anyway. Decided I didn't care, and didn't want to put the effort in to go competitive. So I went with it. Most matches the typical lack of Ywing maneuverability came in. One match though I drew the opponent off with Jake and Salm dropped on the tail of multiple T70s. Absolutely ripped apart Poe and a Blue Novice... Until they turned around anyway.
I flew it bad. It cost too much. It was hilariously effective when I got arc and the range I wanted. Did win one match, but Salm never fired a shot in that one. Just sorta did a lazy circle before blowing up.
So. Back to the discard pile. I can say I've flown Salm now and I'm happy for it.
