Does Anyone Here Customize 3.75"

By Davwapoqui, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

If so, would you mind helping me with a situation? I'm trying to fit a Hooded Cobra Commander circa 1984/85 on a Padawan Obi-Wan circa Phantom Menace and they don't match at all except in size.

This is a perfect fit for my F&D game in which my son's PC is being tortured by a Dark-Side Force User who has placed a Sith torture mask over the character's head.

As my son loves to incorporate action figures into our game, I'd love to customize the Obi-Wan to interchange heads, but I'm a complete novice when it comes to customizing figures.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks!

I do customize SW figures (more accurately, I used to). The GI Joe figures use a completely different articulation system, and are not really compatible with SW figures. The best option for getting the Cobra Commander style helmet on an SW figure is to sculpt a (preferably) removable helmet for the character.

The only other option (one I do not recommend) is to cut their neck posts off and swap them. The problem with this is it creates a serious weak point to a point of articulation. Not only that, but the only way to swap heads between SW figures while maintaining articulation (the boil and pop method), would be made impossible doing this, meaning that the head would lose all articulation.

Thanks for the reply. Obi-Wan's head is removable, so I'm going to pop the Hooded Cobra Commander head off, then drill a hole in its base so it will fit on the neck post on the Obi-Wan figure. Do you have any tips on how to accomplish this w/out damaging the Cobra Commander head? Is there a way to soften the mold so I might use a sculpting knife to cut out a hole instead of using the drill method? Thanks!

Use a dremmel tool using this bit:

As for softening the plastic, if it's urethane (the type of plastic typcally used for the heads and limbs on SW figures), dip it in boiling water for 30 seconds to a minute. But for what you want to do, it's not really necessary.
