I wanted to put together a fun themed tournament. See below.

The Battle of Yavin

Empire squadron composition: only the following pilots may be used.

Darth Vader: may equip TIE X1 title and Targeting computer, if available to the player. No missile upgrades may be used.

Elite talents: no restriction.

Modifications: none may be used by any ship.

Rebel Alliance squadron composition: only the following pilots may be used.

Must equip Chewbacca crew, Millennium Falcon title (not from Heroes of the Resistance). No other upgrades may be taken.

Modifications: only Integrated Astromech may be used.

Titles: BTL-A4 may be used.

Torpedoes: only Proton Torpedoes may be used.

Turret: Ion Cannon upgrade only.

Astromech: no cards with R7 in the title may be used.

it is recommended that each participant have both a Rebel and Imperial squadron to prevent empire fighting empire and Rebel fighting rebel. Alternatively, the organizer should endeavor to pair players to prevent such encounters, or use the following method:

The player with initiative may choose to use either squadron. If there is an initiative tie, each player rolls three red die. The player that rolls more hit or critical hit icons may choose which of their two squadrons to use, and the opposing player must choose the opposite faction.

Historical Notes:

The rebel alliance launched the Death Star attack, they scraped together 24 ships, 12 X-wings and 12 Y-wings, of Gold and Red Squadrons. The task to destroy the station was given to the Y-wings, led by 'Dutch' Vander and his two wingmen. This attempt failed. Then Garven Dries led an attempt which ended in failure.

In the meantime, Red Squadron and Gold Squadron rampaged over the surface, destroying countless turbolaser batteries.

Identifying the threat, Darth Vader, flanked by Mauler Mithel and Backstabber, pursued and destroyed the first two attempts. Contemptuous of the threat posed by the rebel ships, Grand Moff

Tarkin released only Vader's Black Squadron to deal with the threat.

With time running out, and the first two runs failed, it fell to Luke Skywalker, Wedge Antilles, and Biggs to finish it. Above the trench, the tide had turned distinctly in the Empire's favor, sweeping Red Squadron and all but 1 Y-wing from the airspace above.

At the last, after Wedge was forced to break off and with Biggs slain, Luke managed the near impossible shot that detonated the Death Star's reactor, but not before the Millennium Falcon arrived on the scene and destroyed both Mauler and Backstabber, and damaging Darth Vader's TIE.
