Barracade

By Bronze, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Does barracade actually keep monsters from spawning at you location? If not it seems somewhat of a situational, but would be much stronger if it has thus effect.

I assume if it did though it would have to describe where a monster spawns or if it just goes away. I am leaning on the fact that the monster entered anyway from the deck when drawn. Just looking for conformation.

No, it just keeps monsters from moving into your location. This works for enemies moving because of the "Hunter" keyword as well as enemies moving because they are engaged with an investigator who is moving into the barricaded location. So you can use a Barricade to get rid of engaged enemies.

If the monster spawns in the location, Barricade will not stop it.

I find the card wonderfully thematic, you can practically see investigators screaming for their mate to race the last few steps through the door of the room before slamming that door into the face of the ghoul on his heels and fortifying it with a cupboard. And then another ghoul crawls out of a hole in the wall and now they're in the room with the monster!!! So great!

Yeah, spawning monsters come from portals to other worlds so, no barricade is gonna stop that when they are spawning on top of you.

Well, this isn't necessarily untrue but, thankfully, this game has so far avoided the Arkham Horror cliché of portals to other worlds cropping up everywhere. Long may that trend continue.

Agree, but I do think Other World Locations are in store for us soon....
