Poe seeks cohorts for tournament.

By MrHedgehogMan, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I'm going to a tournament at the weekend and as practice I have been playing Poe a lot recently after getting HOTR. I really enjoy flying PtL Poe (trying BB8 and R2D2), but I'm struggling to find a good complementing ship. I have tried Rey with Kanan, Finn, sloop title and ID, but I'm struggling to like it.

The Poe builds are:

Build 1: PS9 Poe, BB8, PtL, Autothrusters, Sensor Cluster and Black One (43pts).

Build 2: PS9 Poe, R2D2, PtL, Integrated Astromech, Sensor Cluster and Black One (43pts).

I'm anticipating a meta heavy with Scum large base ships (YV, Firespray) and X7 Defenders (oh how much I hate these) and perhaps the odd decimator or two. What would be the best thing to take? Han with Gunner and HSCP?

I was thinking either Super Miranda, Super Dash, or Shara Bey with Veteran Instincts, M9-G8, Weapons Engineer, and Alliance Overhaul (plus a Z).

I'm about ready to hang up Rey and go back to Super Dash. I think that would work well with Poe.

The OP question is relevant to my interests as well.

I run super Poe (PtL, PA, R5-P9, AT, B1) and fly him well enough (cue Top Gun), but I need to figure out something for the other 56 points. I've been leaning towards a fat Norra and Bandit, but people keep saying Norra needs Biggs.

Tried Miranda and it's solid, but my Miranda flying needs to be less aggressive. Even took just Corran/Poe to a tourney for funsies and went 2-2 (flew like butt in the losses, so I think there's still untapped potential).

I can fit Rey, but after soloing her and Snapshot A-wings with said Poe I think maybe I can fill the rest with something better.

If you are playing Regen Poe then maybe stick with the theme and take another regen ship and then Biggs to take some of the early fire? You might need to tweak Poe slightly but how about this?

38 PS8 Poe (31), R5-P9 (3), VI (1), IA (0), Pattern Analyser (2), Black One (1)
36 Red Ace (29), R2-D2 (4), Comms Relay (3), IA (0)
26 Biggs (25), R4-D6 (1), IA (0)
100

This is a leaner Poe build and doesn't quite have same action efficiency but he does have PS10 for tangling with Soontir, VI Whisper, Dengar etc. Pattern Analyser is mainly so that he can still Focus after pulling a Red (normally when he is at his weakest). If preffered, you could ditch it for Autothrusters.

I've been running a standard 58 point Super Dash alongside an Acrobat Poe and haven't lost a game yet

Double regen is the way to go imo. Otherwise it makes it very clear who priority #1 is. If you stick Norra/Miranda/Corran along side of him, then there's no clear decision - whomever you leave around for last will still be regening and making the most of their ability. If you couple Poe with Rey (or Han or Dash), then you have to screen Poe with Rey in order to force a decision. And those pilots don't particularly want to play the role of screening, so you'll have to fly sub-optimally to make them question their target priority. Doesn't seem like a win to me.

Black Out (98)

("black" from Black One, "out" from Outrider.)

Poe Dameron (43) - T-70 X-Wing

Push The Limit (3), BB-8 (2), Pattern Analyzer (2), Black One (1), Autothrusters (2)

Dash Rendar (55) - YT-2400

Push The Limit (3), "Mangler" Cannon (4), Kanan Jarrus (3), Outrider (5), Engine Upgrade (4)

I'm 2/1/0 with this list. My one loss was a terrible matchup I lost the initiative bid on. PtL Fen Rau shredded me.

I had good luck with:

Poe (PS8), R5-P9, Predator and AT

Dash PTL, HLC Kyle Katarn, Outrider and EU

Pred Poe gives you re-rolls and well it's Super Dash.

I don't have the Black one title nor Primed thrusters, so I left the 2 point bid.

Regen Poe, Regen Wedge, Jan with Kanan manning a dorsal turret.

Followup to prior post. Just took first in a tournament with this:

Poe Dameron (PS9) (33)

Lone Wolf (2)

R5-P9 (3)

Pattern Analyzer (2)

Autothrusters (2)

Biggs Darklighter (25)

R4-D6 (1)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Braylen Stramm (25)

Gunner (5)

R3-A2 (2)

Alliance Overhaul (0)

Total: 100

The rest of the list felt interchangeable because once the other ships would die or flee to the other side of the mat Poe would go to work on all the enemy ships, including Norra and Dash.

Poe with a Focus at all times (thanks PA), a reroll (LW), regen and AT is monstrous. The real trick now is finding out if there is a more optimal wing mate (Dash, perhaps?). It's hard to quantify the deterrent that Biggs and Stressmule Braylen provide.

Hmm, I like the idea of Corran. Why not this:

Poe Dameron (PS8) (31)

Lone Wolf (2)

R5-P9 (3)

Pattern Analyzer (2)

Autothrusters (2)

Corran Horn (35)

Push The Limit (3)

R2-D2 (4)

Fire-Control System (2)

Engine Upgrade (4)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Total: 100

You still get a sickeningly durable Poe, Corran, and an annoying little gnat to screw up their flight plans.

My recent experiences both with and against Poe suggest he still needs Biggles as his wingman, even more now in this era of /x7 Defenders. Stressmule doesn't bother some Defenders too much but will really mess up PTL Ryad who is a firm meta-favourite. I have to admit though that LW conflicts with Biggs (at least until he dies :P).

The two most over powered ships against the entire meta right now are Biggs and Wes. I just posted this in another place, but try something like this:

Poe:

-Push the Limit

-R5-P9

-Black One

-Pattern Analyzer

-Autothrusters

Wes:

-Veteran Instincts

-BB-8

-Integrate Astromech

Biggs:

-R4-D6

-Integrated Astromech

Fly everyone in close formation. Biggs takes the hits, Wes removes tokens or TLs from Biggs, and Poe boosts into areas, gets a focus and starts shooting. This list is terribly difficult to kill as no one is able to get off that initial alpha strike due to the Black One title and Wes. Defenders are useless against that much token removal, especially when they have to focus down Biggs before being able to target the real problem which is Wes. And while I originally agreed with many people that Poe is tough to fly against defenders, I have changed my mind with the introduction of Pattern Analyzer. He is plenty good enough one on one with defenders now.

I like your list Fozzyman. Might be tempted to take R3-A2 over BB-8 on Wes but otherwise it looks pretty tough. The question is whether 3x3 red dice with modest modification is going to be enough to push the damage through against tough targets. It can certainly mess with the enemy but it can it damage them enough to make it count?

The attack dice are low for sure. I normally run Corran in the list rather than Poe. But both lists are a death by attrition. Poe and Wes remove so many token's and TL's that in the end it is your modified dice against their unmodified dice. Works awesome against defenders. Dengaroo is still a toss up. The nice thing about this list is you can leave Manaroo alone and go straight for Dengar. The token passing doesn't matter, unless they are running recon specialist on Manaroo. Then the two focus is normally a bit too much strip.
