Returning after an absence

By Dazgrim, in Star Wars: Armada

I've recently (yesterday) started playing Armada again. Since I stopped flotillas and the interdictor have appeared.

Can anyone summarise the current state of the global meta and the broad effects of flotillas and gravity wells?

Flotillas have had a huge impact overall. Their cheap fleet cost and squadron command has really been the story of Wave3/4. I rarely see a fleet without any flotilla.

The interdictor and grav-wells are much more sparse. They have an impact on individual games, of course, but I see them much less than flotilla.

Bright Hope could be the single most used upgrade card of Wave 3.

What does bright hope do?

You beat me to it by 10 seconds Dras! Haha

Bright Hope over BCC? Surely you jest, sir.

There are transports without BCC but there are no transports without a Bright Hope.

Unless there is more than one in a fleet, since it is, you know, unique and all...

But agreed, it is taken if there is one or more!

Eh, I have three GR-75's bare naked in my MC30 swarm fleet, and have never yet wished I had BH on one.

Bright Hope is great at what it's great at: protecting a flotilla that needs to be in the thick of the fight from bomber attacks. Put it on your TF/JF/ExHB boat, sure.

It's not great on ships you're planning on keeping at range. Not bad, just sometimes I have higher priorities for those points. Comms Net, for example, will give me more utility on an activation-padder for a heavy hitters than BH. Quantum Storm is better for an admiral's lifeboat, and often for a Slicer Tools platform too. Bids, even: a bid of 398 is a big swing from one of 400.

Really BH's greatest utility comes when you're expecting the ship to get shot by squadrons. If the squadrons are going to have a higher priority target anyway, BH isn't worth it unless you're just sitting on a bid you don't need.

Yes, even at only 2 points.

It certainly isn't the most common upgrade in regionals fleets.

That is a close race between BCC and APTs.

Demolisher is still the most common title, although Yavaris is right behind.

A big change I'm noticing is that the numbers of CR-90s and Raiders have plummeted with the arrival of the Flotillas. Even TRCR-90s aren't nearly as common.
