Good point, but where do you draw the line between not-slow hyperdrive and insanely-fast hyperdrive? And if I'm going to play Friends Like These, how much of an advantage do you think they'll get from having a hyperdrive of 0.00000000001?
None at all. "0.00000000001" is 11 magnitudes faster than 0.5 in a galaxy which considers 0.25 drives experimental military grade drives and 0.5 drive as pretty standard modifications for ships which need to be fast. 50,000,000,000 faster than the millennium falcon to be exact. Makes such a drive on top of it barely useable as you leave hyperspace basically within the same second you enter it even on the longest hyperspace routes. The technology would still be the hottest piece of tech in the galaxy, more worth than Suncrusher, Death Star and starkiller base combined. And it would allow to travel to the neighboring galaxies like the milky way on regular base. Anything travel between to points on direkt hyperspace lane connection would be basically instinguonable from instantaneous teleportation. If it is implied that this drive actually works on the old lanes than it makes it possible to bring the whole imperial fleet (or whoever else owns the tech) into each and every battle basically instantaneous. It would change warfare in the star wars galaxy forever and would create a multi-galactic civilisation.
0.5 drives = very fast. but nothing outstanding rare.
0.25 highly restricted and experimental drives
anything faster does so far not exists in the star wars galaxy.
You might want to introduce it, which is fine, but the implication can be severe. The ability to move your forces faster around is significant for any military and as well for any economy.
