First ever tourney

I'm hoping to go to the Regionals early next year but given that this is my first game off the kitchen table some squad advise would be most welcome. I'm a big fan of A-Wings and B-Wings but am not sure if they're actually competitive would the following even stand a chance?

B-Wing - Blue Squadron

A-Wing - Jake Farrell + Chardaan Refit + Outmanoeuvre

A-Wing - Tycho Celchu + Chardaan Refit + Push the Limit

I can't speak to the a wings but if you're determined to take B wings, chuck Fire Control System on them!

Veteran Instincts for Jake Farrell (with the title) so you can still have Outmaneuver or a better EPT like Push the Limit. Give Tycho and Jake Autothrusters.

FCS is really good on b-wings.

Those a-wings are too 'naked' to be effective, tbh. And throwing more points on them means no b-wings. So personally, I would either drop them to generic a-wings, or fly something else alongside the b-wings.

If you really enjoy those ships and are extremely comfortable flying them, then for sure take that! As only a basic student of the meta though, I will say your list will suffer pushing damage without FCS and the B's won't last long against focused fire. One suggestion is to pick your favorite ace and load him up and maybe drop the other A to something like this:

See if you can get AT on both A's and FCS on both B's your chances improve.

Build out one of the Awings as your ace (Jake is best bet). I love ion cannons and they are game changers when they hit.

Use Jake to flank, Awing to fly ahead and block for the Bwings to joust.

If you dont have autothrusters, replace it with Guidance Chips and upgrade the tractor beam to another ion cannon. In todays tokened stacked high agi ships, you probably arent gonna get more than a single damage through anyhow with a 3attack ship, so might as well be an ion. The ion also pairs well with the Awing blocker, because when a ship is ioned, they can still take actions, that is, if an Awing doesnt block them first (wink wink).

Another reason for ion cannon is no range bonus to ships. Ion cannons will also help Jake's little 2 attack dice actually do damage, because an enemy will allow a damage through from Jake's little guns, to save the focus for an incoming ion cannon shot. NO SHIP LIKES TO BE ION'D :D

You dont need tractor beam, so you could drop it for a small initiative bid. But tractor beam helps strip tokens at range 3 on aces, which helps ion cannon then hit at range 3. Preventing inquisitor or something from getting that 4th green dice, can force them to use one of there tokens.

Dont take risks with Jake. Fly him like you are juggling knives - very carefully.
