Where's the news gone?!

By General Zodd, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Captain Terro preview, 11th November;

"come back next week for our preview of the Jabba the Hutt Villain Pack for Imperial Assault!"

2 and a half weeks later... I wants me some space slug!

And no, news about a new playmat is not sufficient to satiate my craving! Jabba, X-Wing Wave X, Rogue 1, my life is all about the waiting at the moment... *sob*

I think the Americans just had their thanksgiving, and then the black Friday, and the sale, probably that's what delayed the news. Kinda hoping to hear it's shipping on Friday, I think it's been 6 weeks since on the boat.

And they really must stop saying "next week" in their articles. Dont make promises you're not going to keep!

I've honestly been wondering if it already has started shipping (American holidays wouldn't necessarily affect that) and by the time the Upcoming page is updated the process itself will be a few days from being in stores.

Optimistic, maybe, but I don't think it's too far-fetched to think that things didn't just stop moving across the globe for the holiday weekend.

X-wing is still getting reveals. I'm hoping for more of the above. Like Friday they'll announce - "oh we have everything and it will be in stores next week" kind of announcement.

Save Thanksgiving day, most things move normally during this time. And even for the rest of the holidays, all the carriers ramp up employment for the Holidays to facilitate all the extra demand.

Exactly. That, combined with the fact that we seem to only be getting IA updates on Fridays, makes me think that the game may already be well into the shipping process. But, as I've said, I'm typically a glass half full kind of guy.

But, as I've said, I'm typically a glass half full kind of guy.

I find the state of a glass depends on the transition it is currently in.

If you are drinking from a glass, you are emptying it. Therefore, when halfway, it is half empty.

If you are pouring something into the glass, you are filling it. Therefore, when halfway, it is half full.

Honestly, expecting any kind of consistent schedule for reveals from FFG is asking for trouble. They're terrible at it. I think the best bet is to just accept it when it comes.

If by move normally you mean earlier shipping cut off times on Wednesday and possible reduced hours or closures at warehouses, then yes. The expansion should still hopefully be out by Christmas, but Jabba's Realm isn't what's going to make FFG's Q4.

I'm actually not surprised by the delay. Destiny pre-releases and then the actual release tomorrow is probably top priority for FFG when it comes to SW stuff. X-wing still gets previews because there is a much larger player-base than IA and you have to keep the X-wing players happy.

Destiny also likely impacted the actual release date of the next IA wave as well. It was rumored to be hitting last week but I'd bet a dollar that FFG pushed back the release so there was not as much overlap with Destiny. Get people excited about the new game with pre-release events but don't give them anything by which to get distracted by releasing another SW game item until after Destiny's full release on Dec 1st. <_<

Seasonal things (holidays), other projects, milestones/deadlines in alpha and beta testing, and perhaps random events like illnesses can conceivably affect the schedule of various things, including the release of previews.

Due to the Asmodee distribution change affecting my favorite(=quick) store here in Finland, I'm not counting on getting Jabba's Realm before Christmas in any case. But at least there's Rogue One to look forward to -- and of course keep playing the ongoing campaigns.

Someone mentioned in another thread that the Australian Distributor has Physicals already, and some store managers had seen it...?

I talked to my local store owner and he said he didn't expect to see Jabba's Realm stuff until January 1st-ish.

What country?

My sources had yesterday as the final pre-order for retailers to get in. I expect the boat to arrive next week and to change to "Now Shipping" on the Upcoming section. I expect these in the stores between the 14-18th.

Well, things that are marked shipping now Today are going to be available on the 15th of December...

So anything done between Now and this time next week, are more likely the 22nd of December, release date.

My order at www.cardhaus.com says that it shipped. That's probably just false hope since they said it would be shipping today when I ordered it. If I get any real confirmation in the form of a tracking number I'll update you all.

My store manager (Aus) has confirmed that the company has the stock sitting in their warehouse. We are expecting it in the next week or so... any delays beyond that would be artificial given that the warehouse is only a couple hours drive away!

That's the frustration and wonder of simultaneous releases. It takes a boat much less from China to Australia than to US, from where the stuff gets reshipped to other channels.

That's the frustration of being a tabletop fan. Video game players typically know exactly when they're getting their product- and if there's a delay, they at least have a few week's notice.
