Where's the Arcs?

By Bigulf, in X-Wing

Just dont ptl v asajj at range 1/2

And stress her back

Problem solved

Use your other ships to break her

Though really you only need to get her to half hull. Youll win on points 1v1 if you do

If you want a truly horrid match, nothing less than dash giving you initiative will do

Hi all, illness has stopped me using my 2 ARC's so far. Planning an outing this week with 2 ships, Miranda fully loaded and an ARC. Was going to use Thane, opinions?

Sounds like I'm going to have to buy another ARC!

In my local meta you can see some single ARCs here and there (Braylen or Thane for the most part), but mine are usually the only lists with more than one. I'm doing kinda fine with them. Maybe not better than other lists I've played in the past, but also not worse.

Their main problem is I still love Firesprays more :P , but I plan to bring them to at least one regional this season.

And we're ficklegreenphotos in 5... 4... 3...

Not FGD, but I just found a pic of mine in action from a recent tournament. I never remember to take pictures when playing tho, something I should fix.

Gosh, no wonder you're doing all right with them... how come I don't get to play against Imp Aces players who park their Inquisitor and Fel directly in front of all of my jousters??????

Seriously, though, great paintjobs!

You just need to play against a random new guy using them. It happens to me once each ~20 tournaments.

I mean, the pic it's not exactly representative of what I face. Is just the only one I have of them in action. It wasn't even taken by me! :P

I have tried putting Norra, Miranda and Biggs in the same list. It's not bad... but it does cost you.

Cost number one is that you no longer have points for VT on Norra and while she's perfectly usable without it, it does help her a lot at times.

Cost number two is loss of the stressbot. Now that really does hurt. A bit of stress slapped on the enemy of choice at an opportune moment can secure an early kill.

Last but not least - Miranda does damage consistently but there's not a lot of it. Again, I cannot stress how important it is to kill something quickly. Norra's defense is fantastic 1on1 but against 3 ships she can melt in a single turn, two tops. Biggs will only last so long, so you have to trade aggressively. Exchange Biggs for something preferably more expensive and more dangerous and then trade Norra's wingman for yet another enemy ship - and you've won in 90% of the cases. Miranda isn't really well suited for this kind of strategy. Much like Norra, she's good at a late game war of attrition between whatever's left on the table. Unlike Norra however, she finds it hard to generate this early burst of damage that would knock out an enemy right away. Since she is a regenerator, but less powerful offensively than Norra, she's also not very good at pulling the enemy off Norra once they've dealt with Biggs. As a result, Norra+Miranda is more prone to getting stomped because Biggs dies before you've taken out an enemy ship, then Norra gets focused hard and eventually Miranda is unable to seal the deal solo. It's not a bad list mind you. I've flown it in a 50 people tournament and ended 5th or 6th. That said, ever since I got my 2nd ARC and started flying Norra with Thane I feel much more confident with my list and my results improved overall.

Got utterly stomped at a small local tourney by an interesting Norra/Shara/Biggs list (that went on to snag first). I was running an atypical list and botched my approach, but still doubt I would have overcome the very reliable enfiladed fire and raw durability the list put out.

To which I will say Arcs have the advantage of people not necessarily knowing how to fly against them. As a Boba fan, the rear arc on a small base is MUCH more powerful than its larger equivalents, and with it being a relatively new addition to the game it can still come as an unwelcome surprise. The Arc list in question ran the droids a little differently than usual, which I questioned until I was pounded into an agonizing defeat. I'd go into more detail but I'm hoping the guy who made it makes a showing at regionals strong enough to speak for itself.

They may not be 'top-tier', but they are certainly versatile little ships and I'm confident FGD won't be the only one to crack them.

I just met a RAC/Countess list on Vassal: focusing fire on RAC makes him quickly evaporate, of course losing Biggs in the process.

Then i was sure to win, either killing a multistressed Countess or by time.

The key of that game was a good initial approach and a wise obstacles' placement which obliged RAC to joust my team with no chance to arc dodge them
