Zuckuss and Atanni Mindlink

I was considering taking something like this to a regional next weekend.

I was determined to try and make AML work with the IG-88D crew card. Zuckuss is the obvious soft target threat, but would the firepower of IG-88B be enough to offset that weakness? It also lacks a higher pilot skill to deal with aces, though it may be able to handle some of defenders that are popular now. I just feel like its missing something.


I have a few points to play around with and there are plenty of great options like FBA or BMST. But who should get them, if at all?


I have also considered the Bobatanni list out there from SotL. I would love for a chance to play Boba Fett again in a more competitive list, but Zuckuss has always been my favorite Bounty Hunter. What are your thoughts on the strengths and weaknesses of this list?

How are you planning to use the Tractor Beam? Is that just a fail-safe in case Zuckuss can't get damage to stick? I really like that idea. Unfortunately, Kaa'to is the only one who can capitalize on the decreased agility. At least you can still move the other ships around with the Tractor Beam.

Speaking of Kaa'to, I'm not sure what exactly he does in your list. He can steal focus tokens, but if an ally has a focus token, then everyone else in your list does, too. So how does his ability help you? Is it because he ends up with 2 focus tokens?

Kaa'to fills in the list as the cheapest AML option. His personal ability is just additional gravy but ultimately is not the focus of the list. He will mainly be my focus battery that allows my other two ships to take evade actions. He could easily go down first, but should always be double focused to make it a little harder.

Depending on Zuckuss' shot, TB is mainly a backup if he misses a giant hit with this ability. It provides a little bit of control if it goes through and makes the target softer and in arc of (if not already) IG-88B. Against heavily turtled targets, they could avoid both of Zuckuss' shots but hopefully at the expense of some tokens. This will allow the droid to put in some damage.

I looked at IG-88C variations with different ships, but ultimately I liked the efficiency of IG-88D crew with IG-88B pilot and FCS on both of these ships. In a perfect situation, both will end up with focus/target/evade the first turn through AML, FCS, and the evade action.

The list lacks the punch of Zuckuss/4-L0M crew, but under ideal situations it can lay down some damage. I just feel it is missing something and ends up being kind of gimmicky.

At the end of the day it's still only a Z 95, but if they are shooting Kaa'to they aren't shooting Zuckuss. I think your list would be fun to fly, I am trying out a Zuckuss, Fenn, Palob list. I do like wave motion gun Zuckuss.

Exactly. It gets less effective as the game goes on and a ship is wiped off the board. I'm hoping it is effective enough to get a few rounds of full firepower in. The other list I was considering of my own design was a non-mind link Fenn, Guri, and Serissu (with Adaptability and Ion Cannon). It was pretty interesting because Serissu is a little bit bigger target and brings the control aspect. I like the idea of not worrying about the AML setup, but the whole point is to be efficient with actions.

You could strap a Deadman's Switch on Kaa'to and have him kamikaze the opponents. Or he would be the prime target of BMST. Anything you can do to take attention and fire away from IG and Zuckuss is going to be much better for this list in the long run.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking. Taking Zuckuss out early would be awesome as an opponent to this list, but Kaa'to is going to go down more quickly. Now that I think about it, he does get that extra focus/evade, but If I were to steal one of the others' evades, they might be shot first. I guess it depends on positioning. Worst case is he gets 2 focus tokens.

Focus + evade seems solid on those ships. GA-1s feel a little fragile but let you add that third ship and you could add a hull upgrade. But if your third ship is a focus factory that can also TL+ focus and maybe even at a -1 green opponent you're upping your offense. Lots of love for coming up with this.

Thanks. I'm hoping to get a chance to play it before taking it to a regionals (as a mostly casual player) :). I like the concept a lot, but if it doesn't fit my play style once it's on the board, I'll have to switch it up to something else.
