[Podcast] IFF XXV brought to you by Correlian Chew

By WWPDSteven, in Star Wars: Armada

I'll say the game is dangerously close to being "solved" with the overabundance of squadrons.

I really disagree. I just won a (admittedly pretty small, 7-player) tourney with my squadronless Mon Mothma 4xMC30/3xGR75 swarm. I tabled two good players with heavy BCC Rhymerball builds to do it.

You have to take all of the preconceptions we've all formed and reexamine them in light of the extremely squadron-heavy meta. Builds that used to be suboptimal are suddenly pretty good; many previously-dominant builds are struggling. Don't be discouraged, just keep trying new stuff and figure out how to rework the things you like to fly into a workable build.

Shhhh! Gosh Ard you are not going to stay ahead of the meta for long if you keep giving away your secrets! Prove it on the table to them!

It's cool, I also know how to beat it.

You heard it here first, folks! Take MC30 swarms, they're unstoppable!! ;)

Well you also have to learn to fly them, I don't think they are an auto win by the average player.

You guys are great fun to listen to and it would be sad to see the podcast go away. Throwing my opinion into the ring, I would be fine with expanding the talk to include other games. You guys made me want to give a 2nd look at Rebellion several months back and now it's one of my favorite games. I'd love you to keep it the IFF podcast, same crew, same opening, and just expand the dialogue. The fact is that with so many good Star Wars games (FFG, you're killing my wallet), whether you talk about Armada or not, you'll likely always fit the theme by talking about some Star Wars game or other. You guys have me seriously considering picking up Destiny now. Dangit!

I like to know what I'm getting on the box.

This is one of the myriad reasons as to why I have not listened to this episode. The comments have me staggered a bit on it...

... Intensify Forward Firepower is an Armada Podcast... If you guys are burned out, then by all means, do a general gaming podcast, or even an FFG podcast... Even if It it will be in the style of Intensify Forward Firepower... It won't be the same, and it shouldn't be marketed or labelled as the same thing...

Just call it something different, is all I ask, I guess...

I guess that's something I've always appreciated about D6 Generation, going through the years - they were explicit and straightforward on contents...

... That way, people will know what to look at...

Because with my own listening-time so preciously small, I can't wade through generics to get to what I want to listen to... I wish I could, I really do... but I can't...

And although I'm hardly "in the majority" with that, I can't be unique...

I will say, if you do go to an all FFG podcast.. or all games etc... name needs to change to IFFGF.. Intensify Fantasy Flight Games Firepower... lol

More like Intensify Fantasy Flight Game's Finances.

I thought when you gentlemen had not darkened our doorstep for so long that you had experienced an epiphany regarding your foolish, blowhard pod-radio.

Apparently you are only halfway there, which is oddly appropriate for a bunch of half-wits! HA! Wait, Doris, did you type out the "ha"? No, don't put that in. Thank you.

In closing, good riddance!

Just turn IFF into a Star Wars podcast and everything else in another.

I really want to know who is behind the worthington avatar.

Governor DrunkTarkin! I should have expected to find you holding Worthington's leash...

Governor DrunkTarkin! I should have expected to find you holding Worthington's leash...

I have my suspicions, but even I don't know for certain that Worthington is not, in fact, the true old timey robber baron of FFG.

And good feedback, Dras. This ep is still all about Armada, we just mix in some speculation as to the future of the show in our traditional, rambling intro.
