I need to get this off my chest

WHY THE FLYING UNGULATING CRABBY KRACKERS IS THE TIE/Adv Prototype BETTER THAN THE TIE/Adv.?!?!?!?!?

yes i know the main complaint is the better dial and it having boost which it's defenders cast aside with "it's lighter" and cite the one less hull, if it's supposed to be the same ship type why does it look compleatly different and have an entirely different dial, also lets look to see if it's actually any different in weight, yes it looks lighter but the main things that made the TIE/Adv heavier than a normal TIE/ln (and supposedly the prototype) was that it has a hyperdrive which the prototype has, and a large experimental disk shield generator, yet even without this the PROTOTYPE has the same shield value. why does the prototype have shields especially if they were just going to be replaced by a different system, and why would they replace them if there was literally no difference and made the ship heavier, indeed if the prototype is better than the final which is what the game meta suggests, why switch to the final? on a final note to Prototype just looks stupid and might just beat the FO (which paints their solar panels a color that reflects light rather than asorb it) for worst solar panel ideas, curving the panels inwards does alow for light to be adsorbed from more angles, HOWEVER this only works if the solar panels are on the outside, on the inside it has the opposite effect, it optimizes adsorbing light coming from the cockpit, at least this was fixed in the final version which means that the TIE/Adv actually has more power than the prototype even without the larger panels.

and the above is why i refuse to play the TIE/Adv. Prototype regardless of how good it is

It is not though. The TIE Advanced hits objectively better with both ATC or AC. The dial isn't bad, either. It is mostly a case of the prototying being very early and not set on a direction. The prototype is more of an Interceptor, the Advanced more of a Defender.

If you don't like its looks thats your subjective problem.

The advanced title really makes it superior that's why so many tried to argue the TAP could use the x1 title.

Now turrets Arnt so prevalent the ability to take AT isn't quite so important, it take an AC advanced over a tap honestly, I'd take Vader over the inquisitor with ATC.

TAP's are good but they don't invalidate the advanced.

Cost and the practicalities of mass production. In the world of vehicle development a prototype is often an idealized or visionary version of the vehicle, ignoring cost, resources, effort to produce, etc. The released version is not an improved version of the prototype, but rather the result of compromises.

The funnt thing is that Tie Advanced itself wasn't mass produced, so TAP is a prototype of a prototype. Or just simply an earlier prototype, but for some reason they called it "TIE Adv. Prototype" instead of "TIE Adv. First Prototype" or "TIE Adv. (early)".

Aaaand we see only one Advanced (or a number of Advanceds flown by the same person) in the canon media and multiple TAPs, even the Rebels caprued one.

Because there is no generic veteran TIE Adv pilot with an EPT, and because FFG had learned a thing or two by the time the TAP was designed for the game.

It's also worth noting that the empire day episode implied that the TAP was produced on lothal (which makes their use as the standard craft of the inquisition suprising)

Given Vader shows up in Rebels flying the x1 right out the gate in season 2, it seems the two Tie Advanceds are the products of different programmes, or rival designs for the same program. With the inquisition gone, and the Interceptor being developed and deployed a year later what purpose does the lighter clearly more high maintenance version of the advanced (the TAP) have?

Side question: in mouse-cannon has there been any indication of the x1 going back to being completely unique or is it still liberally cloned all over the universe for other named characters to use? I ask because I wonder if there were perhaps only say 5 TAP (just the ones we have actually seen) ever produced and the one x1.

Is it really the standard craft for inquisitors or did they just commandeer the whole stock because the ship fits their needs? I don't remember them having more than three, might be wrong, though.

Is the TAP really that good though? Besides the Inquisitor, 2 attack dice just doesn't cut it anymore. Even AC Tie Advanced struggle to do anything meaningful.

In terms of Star Wars Cannon. Just because a TAP generates the same sheold capacity as an Advanced, doesn't mean the sheilds perform the same. The Inquisitors are infinity more expendable than Lord Vader. Thus it's very likely that the Tie Advanced shields probably have a recharge capacity that the TAP does not. Also, I remember reading that Vaders Tie was structurally reinforced to withstand collisions, hence why he was able to survive the battle of Yavin.

Inquisitor is the only TAP thats ever used.

The TAP has -1 hull, no Sensor slot, and all greens being 1speed or straight doesnt really help it that much when its in trouble.

TAdv is statistically better in every way, its just overpriced outside Vader/Juno. And even then i'd say its slightly overpriced.

Inquis is only used because he can play the sniper game, which vastly improves his survival odds especially with autos. The moment he dives in like TAdvs do, he dies so fast its sickening. HE doesnt have to do that though, other TAPs do.

How the hell TAP is better then TA??

Less hull.

2 attack vs AC/ATC

Free systems slot vs prrrrr :P

1turns but at a cost of very situational greens,

Generics that does not see almost any play vs generics that took me to 2nd place one day (4 TA for the win :D )

Pls....
