I have a good opportunity to buy a cheap core set. Is it worth it to have a second one?
2nd Core Set worth it?
For campaign no, unless you really, really want to paint alternative versions of the heroes for their wounded status.
For skirmish, depends on the price and what armies you want to run, and whether you play competitive/organized play or casual. With all the new options available, a second core is no longer a must-have (if it ever was).

Edited by a1bertfor skirmish if its really cheap enough why not. only worth if your play alot of skrimish. You might want extra royal guards, probe droids, officers, nexu and transdosian in the future. As of right now its not a must have but it is a nice thing to have.
I am painting up the probe droids that came with it in a better color. Plus two of them were broken off of their bases. I am ordering some clear acrylic bases with posts to make them hover instead of being on the ground. I also want to rebase the figures using the similar bases that sorastro uses in his videos. That way I can play at home with them on the custom bases and if I ever get better at playing skirmish (lol I stop losing 0/3). I can play in more FFG run events. My local store tournament's won't mind but I am sure in say in worlds or something like that They may not fly. In the tournament faq it says that you can't modify the bases to the figures. In my opinion as long as they are 25mm who cares. So this way I can customize them and still be tournament legal. So I would say on the custom look yes. You can also run four grey cards and two red elite cards. So you can field four regular and two elite stormtrooper groups in skirmish with the two core sets. So for me I say own two of the core sets. I am going to buy second of each boxes for the expansions to do the same thing. So that is my two cents.
Another Core Set?
Not required for both campaign and skirmish.
You can get the units ( and their related cards ) you want from Ebay for much less.
I have 3x core sets, they are worthwhile if you can find them cheap enough.
Do you find yourself wanting a second Core Set? Or is it purely because of the price?
I'd say if you want a second Core, you probably know that you want a second Core, and then it's just a matter of how much you're willing to pay for it.

It is purely because of the price (it comes with a package with many other expansions)
I've used multiples and been very happy with all 3 purchases, (2nd for sure, 3rd maybe not as much unless you are supporting several other players like me)
anyone who uses the tiles, will notice they start to fall apart after multiple uses, so for campaign having extra pieces is always a good idea if you plan to replay the campaigns.
2 for skirmish for sure if youre getting a good deal. The extra dice and estormtroopers and eprobes almost make it worth it alone. (usually youre going to pay $25-30 for those pieces alone on ebay, the dice are $10 almost and then having multiple Gideons was a must for me as 3 of us were using pieces for competetive lists.)

In that case, I wonder if you can guy the package, and then sell off any extras (including the extra Core Set) that you don't need. Depending on the price of the initial package, this could actually be a further savings for you. Personally, I'd be inclined to go for it.

What exactly is cheap enough?

Under £50 gives value for money for a second core set.
When you work out how much the individual models would cost if sold separately it's a bargain.
Yeah, some of the Black Friday sales had it at $50.

Probably a good call, in the end. By playing the game, maybe you'll end up with a better idea of whether or not you'll need those extra units from the core box.
