The only ship I don`t own is a scyk. trying to talk myself into it.

Just for completionist purposes I guess I should get it.

Maybe that one that helps its buddies on defensive rolls will be fun once in a while.

but ....dang...

I mean....

ewww.

sigh.

It's got extra health now, and the ps5 with tractor beam hanging out on the flank of some ps5 Protectorate fighters is hilarious, "arc dodge this!"

You know, most stores are doing a special deal where if you buy a flechette cannon and a mangler Cannon together for around $10-$15 then they'll throw in a free scyk. Maybe you should try that.

My collection is far from complete, but if the only ship I didn't own was a $15 expansion, I wouldn't hesitate to pick it up.

The Scyk is definitely a fun ship. It doesn't appear to be competitive, but it still flies perfectly well. I like to put a Tractor Beam Cannon on Serissu. It's decently cheap and she offers rerolls to the defense of her squad-mates. If they shoot her, I'm not loosing any offense. If they don't shoot her, she is decreasing their agility so that the other ships can push more damage through while also getting rerolls on their defense.

And think of a Scyk carrying a HLC :-D

Serissu is worth the buy with the new title. Not because of the ability, but now with the title and Mindlink she is pretty tough to kill, throw in Manaroo and she'll be sitting at Range 3 with an evade, focus, and can throw four dice back at you with HLC and many times a TL if Manaroo is kitted out right. I've been using her as an Inquisitor type ship and has been working out quite well.

Yes! Nasty... A friend played this recently:

Manaroo (Attanni Mindlink, K4 Security Droid, R5-P8, Feedback Array)

Tansarii Point Veteran (Attanni Mindlink, Heavy Scyk, HLC, Hull Upgrade)

Feen Rau (Attanni Mindlink, Concord Dawn Protector, Autothrusters)

98 points

TPV with Mindlink is great. What's wrong with that? Put either an Ion Cannon or Mangler Cannon and you are good to go. Scyks weren't as bad as everyone stated before and they got better. Just don't take it to a tournament and you are fine.

Scyk with the title and Mangler is about the same as two other Scum ships.

Scyk is excellent as one of the cheapest ways to get a different element in your list.

Ion, Stress, Tractor, Crits... A cannon to suit all tastes.

Torpedo or missiles not as efficient, but the option is there for funnies.

Better filler than a Z-95 for me.

I think the squad I'll dabble with is guri, fenn and serisu.

"They weren't bad, they just aren't really a competitive choice."

Not exactly a strong selling point. The ship, like most scum smalls, is undertuned, even with the title change. No point sugar coating it.

@admat: you can do it with SerissuFennMana. It is even better.

I've kinda fallen for them. They're fun in a swarm, they're great hlc platforms, they're nice filler. That extra hull comes in play every game, Mindlink is a gem, they shine at r3. I'm smitten.

With the free hull upgrade and mindlink, it's not the same hunk of junk it used to be. While not being x7 or jumpmaster tier, it is now a pretty good ship.

A Scyk list went 5-1 the first day of Worlds and made it to day 2. That's a whole lot better than all of the lists not containing Scyks that didn't make day 2.

Can't be all bad.

Paint them grey and fly them with a Quadjumper dial for a poor man's Fang.

I actually use mine quite a bit. The generic pilots are a good filler in a Scum list, and the Mangler Cannon and Flechette Cannon cards are worth the investment anyway. And with buff to their title, they not bad.

My only problem is I still look at them and think they're flying backwards. But that's probably just me ;)

If you are going to get one, get five.

C'mon, man up.

I just picked a scyk up myself because it was the last ship I needed as well. It is cheap and pretty fun to use so I am very happy I did.

The Syck should definitely be owned. Although one could argue that I'm biased because I think all the ships should be owned. It would complete the collection for you though, so you should just do it.Trust me.

And that one lose was against Nand, the guy to win it all. So I dont feel all to bad about that lose. I'm 100% sure I would of gotten top 16 had I flown against more then one palp ace... 8 games and only played against 6 small ship bases...

I don't own the TIE Punisher. Or the Inquisitor's TIE. Or any TIE/fo's. Or the TIE/sf. Or a Decimator. Or a Raider. Or the Ghost and the Phantom.

I do own two Scyks, though. They're great!
