Chewie crane

By Izikial, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hero's chewbacca with smugglers compartment, savaging crane, choice of missle and guidence chips

Then 3 or 4 z-95 possibly with chips and missles. Im not good enough to make the list propper but i think it might have legs.

When a z95 dies you get to reload your missiles and fire them of and when an enemy dies you get missles back to shoot as your attack?

Yes I guess that would work theoretically. The problem you may have (and this is the problem that has been identified with HOTR Chewie generally) is that there's no guarantee a z-95 will die before Chewie does. In fact, taking potentially reloadable missiles gives you opponent even more of an incentive to take him out early.

Something like this?

Chewbacca (TFA) (42)

Predator (3)

Homing Missiles (5)

C-3PO (3)

Scavenger Crane (2)

Smuggling Compartment (0)

Guidance Chips (0)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Ion Pulse Missiles (3)

Guidance Chips (0)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Advanced Homing Missiles (3)

Guidance Chips (0)

Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

Proton Rockets (3)

Guidance Chips (0)

Total: 100

I gave Chewie the en-vogue homing missiles for defenders and gave the Zs an assortment pack of missiles. Test them out and see which ones work the best. Or drop C-3PO and upgrade the Zs to cluster/concussion missiles.

Yh basicly what i came up with i also went for the evade title and ptl insted of preditor so i could get 2guaranteed evades to keep on my feet

Interesting concept. Points are extremely tight, though, trying to fit in three wingmates. I went for a tanky Chewie that tries to dissuade opponents from going after him, who can still possibly get use out of the crane.

Chewbacca (TFA 42)

+ Snuggling Compartment (0)

+ C-3PO (3)

+ Countermeasures (3)

+ Scavenger Crane (2)

+ Millennium Falcon (MF 1)

+ Trick Shot (0)

3x Bandit Squadron Pilot (12)

+ Concussion Missile (4)

+ Guidance Chimps (0)

There's one point left over that could be used to upgrade one Z to a Homing Missile, or fill Chewie's other seat with an Intelligence Agent (good for knowing if you can afford an offensive action instead of the evade, and helping your Z's figure out who to target).

The plan is to have Chewie hide among the obstacles with a couple Evade (title, 3PO), and 2-4 Agility (depending on range, obstacles, and Countermeasures). Keep the Z's within range for revenge shots, and though you don't have much in the way of offensive modification, Trick Shot should hopefully give you 4 dice every time (5 if you're lucky enough for something to be at R1).

All that said, this strikes me as an extremely gimmicky list, and a fun one, but not terribly competitive.

Im a scum player and loving the new crane. But as soon as i saw it was a destroyed ship not enemy ship chewie just called to me

Chewie + Scavenger crane is a great idea, but might I suggest the following alteration:

Chewie [TFA] (42)

- Predator (3)

- Homing Missiles (5)

- C-3P0 (3)

- Rey (2)

- Compartments (0)

- Crane (2)

- Chips (0)

- Falcon [Evade] (1)

Total 56

Biggs (25)

- IA (0)

- R3-A2 (2)

Total 26

Captain Rex (14)

As has been pointed out, the weakness of Chewie in general - and this list in particular - is that the right strategy is usually to kill him first. Biggs makes that impossible, and ensures you'll get at least one extra use out of your Homing Missiles. Rex is another good way to mess up their target priority - sure, they don't have to kill him, but he's really annoying if left alone. Rey ensures Chewie will have a focus + TL on the initial engagement - odds are he'll want the focus for at least 1 of his attacks. Went with R3-A2 over R4-D6 as we actually kind of want Biggs to die on round 1 so Chewy can possibly alpha strike something; plus with U-boats dead R4-D6's trigger is a lot rarer now, and R3-A2 makes him even more of a pain than usual.
