Casual game. Triple regen help

By thebigeb2589, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Trying to come up with a triple regen list and I'm having a hard time making everything fit. Back when the k wing came out I was flying 3 of them with tlt one being Miranda with chewie crew and hull upgrade for the extra wiggle room in her regen ability. I even won a local tournament with it, 4-0 and have not been defeated in casual games yet with it. Well my new love (rebels at least) is the arc-170 and I find them extremely easy to fly. Mostly because they have the k wing dial plus three extra (red) maneuvers. So I'm trying to play around with 2 arcs and Miranda but I'm just having a hard time keeping them all heavy hitting plus regen. I have this right now but I'm not sold on it. Thoughts? Help?

ARC-170: · Norra Wexley (29)

Push The Limit (3)

· R2-D2 (4)

Alliance Overhaul (0)

K-Wing: · Miranda Doni (29)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

ARC-170: · Braylen Stramm (25)

· R5-D8 (3)

Alliance Overhaul (0)

I'm sure it can be done there are ppl here way better at list building then me

I switched a bit up - changed the ARC pilot and crew. Here is what I came up with:

Norra Wexley (29)
"Chopper" (0)
R5-P9 (3)
Alliance Overhaul (0)

Thane Kyrell (26)
Nien Nunb (1)
R2-D2 (4)
Alliance Overhaul (0)

Miranda Doni (29)
Twin Laser Turret (6)
Rey (2)
Long-Range Scanners (0)

Total: 100

The idea for the change is to have Thane be able to provide an action to Nora incase she didn't grab a focus earlier. Chopper is further insurance to grab that all needed focus to fuel R5P9. Since the action passing to Nora is good I switched R2D2 to Thane. The added greens from Nien makes him a solid choice for the little astromech. I tried aid a bit of Miranda's shots with Rey. Take an early TL (free upgrade) and then bank some tokens for future TLT shots.

Thoughts?

I'm actually undefeated with the following, though I don't think it's actually a good list:

Poe8 w/ R5P9, PA, VI, AT, B1

Miranda w/ TLT, LRS

Rookie w/ R2D2, IA

100pts

IMO it's about the only potentially viable triple regen list we have right now. R5P9, R2D2, and Miranda are the only regeneration abilities, and Poe is the only one that uses R5P9 well. And Miri needs at least TLT. So short of gimping Poe to upgrade the Rookie a bit, I'm not quite sure how I would change.

If you really want to make it an ARC, you need 4 points to upgrade the Rookie to Braylen. I would suggest those 4 points come from dropping B1, replacing Adaptability for VI, and then perhaps AT for IA.

I'm not sure I understand how Thane gives Norra an action? Thane's ability allows him to do extra actions not others

I read it wrong. I was hung up on the "another friendly ship" thing. You still get an extra chance at an action with Chopper. But yeah, not s good as the card reads in my head.

Fitting 3 regenerators into 100 points is a bit of a tight squeeze, especially if you are looking to include some of the more expensive pilots to begin with. TLT Miranda is 35 points so lets use her as a starting point and then you have the 2 regen astromechs. R2-D2 works well almost anywhere but is particularly good on ARCs due to their 6 green moves. R5-P9 is a bit tricker as he needs to fly on someone likely to still have Focus tokens at the end of the turn. Poe is a popular choice but he is really a bit pricey so maybe a better choice is an ARC with Rec Spec, at least that way you have have 1 Focus token to spend and one to save to power your regen.

38 Miranda Doni (29), TLT (6), C-3PO (3)

32 Thane Kyrell (26), R5-P9 (3), Recon Specialist (3), Alliance Overhaul (0)

30 Braylen Stramm (25), R2-D2 (4), Nien Numb (1), , Alliance Overhaul (0)

100

Alternatively you can run a very bare bones Poe as below.

35 Miranda Doni (29), TLT (6), Chopper (0)

35 Poe Dameron (31), R5-P9 (3), VI (1), IA (0)

30 Braylen Stramm (25), R2-D2 (4), Nien Numb (1), , Alliance Overhaul (0)

100

Personally I would prefer 2 more beefy regen ships with a 3rd support ship but the list above has 27 health to chew through (even if it is only agility 1) and you can in theory regain 3 shields every turn under optimum conditions.

That is good. I like the synergy with the crew and their respective astromechs.

Tarn might not be regen but he's cheap and **** tough.

He certainly works well in the squad. If you just want him tough you can give him R7 as usual. If you want someone who is still tough but can support his wingmates better, try R9-G8 instead. If you TL Miranda on Turn 1, you can give her rerolls on both her TLT attacks. Then if anyone targets Tarn, switch the TL to them and make them reroll an attack dice. Lastly Tarn attacks and spends the TL to boost his attacks. Quite a nasty little dude.
