Return of the Jedi?

By Ronu, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hey all I'm looking to try and get Luke Skywalker back in my local table. The issues are what they have been for a while. Solid PS but not a pure ace. The T-65 dilemma. Lastly who's going to make Luke better as wingmen?

Regen Luke, while an option suffers from a bit of predictability? Vectoring Thrusters might be a boon the T-65's have needed for a long time. It needs to be weighed against other upgrades like Intergrated Astromech.

Luke Skywalker — X-Wing 28

Predator 3

R3 Astromech 2

Vectored Thrusters 2

Ship Total: 35

Or

Luke Skywalker — X-Wing 28

Predator 3

R2-D2 4

Shield Upgrade 4

Ship Total: 39

Yes, yes I know R3 is on most people's do not use list. However with how high Luke's skill is he can actually take advantage of it. This can also make him a bit more defensive overall. Open to ideas.

R2-D2 and Luke are iconic and work well together. Maybe Lone Wolf instead of Predator considering with regen and Luke's ability he will likely be your end game closer.

Luke

PtL

R2

Vectored Thrusters

Giving you repositioning, mitigation and a more flexible dial.

I like Luke with Predator or Lonewolf better than PTL. PTL on the x-wing is SUPER predictable. At least with the other two traits you will use more of the white maneuvers....more guessing by the opponent. Vector Thrusters can keep you out of any arcs, thus not needing to use R2.

Now, pick some big team mates with Luke (and juicier targets), Luke will be a good game closer.

Edit: Formation fly 2 Bwings with HLC and FCS? Dash?

Lonewolf is the way to go me thinks.

With T65s it's going to be all about positioning and support, no matter who the pilot is. An unsupported Xwing is a dead Xwing. I like Lone Wolf with R2D2 for long term surviving but you're going to need wingmen who are fast enough to move in to protect Luke if he gets himself into trouble! That or ignore Lone Wolf until late game.

For Luke's wingman may I suggest his old friend from Tatooine: Biggs Darklighter.
