Alien Voices

By Klort, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hello fellow players!

I was wondering if anyone knows about archives or soundboards with voices of common alien species. I was thinking something that sounds like this https://youtu.be/-Sj3qK1-drs?t=28s but without the background noise, and ideally as seperate files for the different species.

Reason is, I wanted to spice up our sessions, and thought it would be a good addition to the atmosphere if you actually hear a big bad Hutt talking for example, instead of the GM doing silly voices.

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

There is the official StarWars soundboard at http://www.starwars.com/games-apps/star-wars-soundboard

Note that this requires you to allow JavaScript to run on that site, and the webapp in question is written in Flash.

There’s a whole page of various different sounds that Jabba makes.

Rodians speak a mish-mash of Vietnamese and American tribal, in a condescdnding tone. Well, they do in my game, and the players can't stand them based on tone alone.

Unfortunately, I neither speak Vietnamese nor American tribal...

The soundboard is pretty cool, though it only has Wookiee and Hutt, I'm missing me some Rodian, Ithorians etc.

The playable aliens in Battlefront (Male Duros, Rodian, Quarren, Ishi Tib, Sullstan, and Female Twi'lek) are voiced. Making soundboards out of their lines might be a bit of a chore, but I found listening to the Rodian helpful for voicing Rodians myself.

There are more aliens than just Wookiees and Hutts, but unfortunately there aren’t that many alien species represented on the official sound board. ;(

All alien voices in Star Wars are racial stereotypes.

Dude, if you can throw together a patois of those two many languages, even badly, I tip my cap to you.

If you can get the old soNY star wars mmo you can pull out sounds from the game with a little work.

Of course you're going to hear various languages from different Earth cultures, especially since we have very few English dialects compared to many other cultures on the planet.

The one issue many folks have is the Gungans represented with an Island culture language, which I feel is an absurd argument.

Either you include other cultures and their language into the movies/series/games or make all alien species speak perfect English and omit all cultures altogether.

Which one is best in your opinion?

Mine is represent them all as best as you can and leave it alone.
