I'm sure someone has already posted on this but what is the use for that part of the Scavenger crane. I read in a few other posts people saying its for Bobba Fett. I still don't see the correlation... Someone please Learn me something. The only thing I see as a possibility is future expansions with single use cannons or turrets, but what do I know.

Boba CREW specifically. He can discard any upgrade if the ship hes on deals a faceup card to another ship.

Its very common for him to remove turrets...or palpatine.

All of this because I didn't want my son to deal with that deck, so he had the TFA one. I now have 2 TFA cores so this never, ever happens again. If only I hadn't shot the torpedo ;_;

I was facing a friend that didnt have the TFA deck yet and the literal first crit his HWK took was discard the turret. I just ignored that remaining 3hull ship for the rest of the game lol

Uh, wouldnt that completely kill dash? You lost the turret but still have the title, you cant do primary weapon attacks. Or am i missing something that lets him get rid of it?

Title specificially states that you can't do primary weapon attacks while you have an equipped cannon. Soon as cannon is discarded, you don't have one equipped anymore so the title becomes 5 useless points and your primary works again.

I'd imagine those two slightly edge cases aside, that it's also to future-proof. Maybe they're intending to release some discard-on-use cannons and turrets in the future...

And now you're bringing back horrible memories of my being within range 1 of Dash and him not being able to shoot, to being within range 1 of Dash while he gets a 3-die primary weapon attack.

That reminds me of the time that my Ion Stresshog w/BTL-A4 had a tokenless 1 hit point Soontir Fel sitting in arc at range 1 and caught got hit with both Blinded Pilot and Munitions Failure before he could shoot.

Yeah, I thought of that. But I just feel that because cannons are typically not discarded, a discarding cannon should have a stronger effect than other cannons because it's a one-time-use cannon. I imagine (though I don't know for sure) that cannon slots cost more than torpedo slots since torpedoes are one-shot and cannons last the whole game. So to pay the extra cost for a cannon slot and use it for a one-shot upgrade, it seems you would need a stronger effect.

Then again, given that Heavy Scyk Interceptor costs 2 for either Missile, Torpedo, or Cannon, maybe the designers do cost them all the same. In that case, yes, you might as well take Missiles or Torpedoes.

Issue with oneshot cannons or turrets is you would have to make them INSANELY powerful to justify it.

Case in point: Mangler Cannon. For 4pts, you get a range 1-3 3die shot that guarantees 1 crit as long as you didnt wiff entirely. Usable long as theyre in arc (or youre dash)

Vs: Proton Torpedo. For 4pts, you get a range 2-3 4die shot that mods a focus for free. Requires a Targetlock and is 1 use only.

Same price, but Manger Cannon is going to do way more damage since it will fire multiple times, both because lack of range1 issue and no TL requirement, so it can use its actions to solidify the hit.

What on earth would you put out to outshine a Mangler Cannon or HLC to the point of one shot outweighs multiple shots? The only thing that would suffice is either a throwaway upgrade (1-2pts for a decent attack at range3) or something that breaks the current number of attack dice system. A 5pt one-use cannon shot that fires 5 dice and mods up to 3 hits into crits would definitely be worth it over a Mangler or HLC, but thats just flatout broken lol

Now, taking something from the Ork weaponry in 40k, another possibility would be a weapon that really doesnt want to see multiple crits. 4 dice, 3pts, no other effects range 1-3. If you have more than 1 *Kaboom* result after modding your attack dice, flip this card face down (it blew up)

Possibility being possible crane-food, not something that outshines Mangler/HLC

you wouldnt get boba back, you get back what boba discarded.

Which then raises the question: do you discard the Crane, or do you discard something the Crane can regen?

Where has anyone said you get boba fett back? Boba discards your cannon or turret, then you use crane to get the turret or cannon back.

I misread what some people were posting....that makes sense...some people were making it sound like you would be able to pick up the upgrade he discards or able to pick him back up also...thank you for the clarity. There are a lot of dead wrong posts on how the ability works.
