Me and Sato are going to be best mates. Finally ruthless strategist mc30s!
But. But. Then there isn't anyone left who will think of the Sensor Teams!!!
Possibly a stupid question: Salvation - Opening Salvo
..... as long as it has a Gunnery Team slot... Which it may not...
Devestator takes a lot more setup for that damage output though.
Salvation is an immediate trigger on every attack.
Devestator needs to ramp up to its maximum output.
Get hit by two cheap squadrons and suddenly all your tokens are gone. Had some poor guy at GenCon try swarming me with A-Wings. Ended with nearly full shields and no tokens, and at least one set dropped by a blank roll.
I've had players start spending accuracies on my red tokens to slow down the process. There Is no "ramping up" if flown well.
Edited by thecactusman17Yeah, with Needa, 2 attacks and all 4 gone. Without, 2 attacks and just a redirect left.
I always forget about pointless burning of tokens.
I think if I see Opening Salvo and I'm running Sato, I'd be very tempted to take it....It basically brings you to a level playing field (all other things equal - even number of ships, etc...).

Good point. Opening Salvo itself is incredibly fun to play, and I usually take it when I see it in a casual game. But I wouldn't choose it in a tourney setting, unless I had a lot of low cost ships and was fairly confident that I could keep the damage to my ships on only the lower costing ships. Flotillas and Corvettes, namely. I'd also rationalize the choice by saying that if a 3-4 hull ship gets to the point where it has damage cards, it's probably going to die anyways.
I can state from experience you'd be shocked at how easily this can be done. A lot of people aren't aware of how quickly you can drop tokens especially if you've swapped out the second redirect. Vader often slows the process down.Devestator takes a lot more setup for that damage output though.

Irregardless, that's still more ramping up than the salvation needs.
Salvations front arc is annoyingly narrow.
I'm always surprised when people want Spinal instead of TRC, especially on a ship like Salvation.
To each their own, I guess.

Some people just prefer Life, I guess...
Or at least a fleeting, wretched, sense of it for a few painstaking milliseconds more of blackened, awful existance...

Why so dark? Or are you referring to the lifespan of a neb in armada?

Dras is secretly Nietzsche. We're not here to talk about plastic spaceships, we're here to talk about life philosophies. That's clearly what he meant.

Fixed that for you ![]()
Yea I agree, with salvation you wanna go for damage consistency like TRC, DTT. The title already boosts potential output but lacks the consistency, so less reward in further boosting that aspect with SA.

To continue the Dras/Nietzsche parallels, I think this quote is particularly apt for Dras's Sisyphean struggles in the rules sub-forum:
