Can you use +Soak +Defense armors together?

By Reshy, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Here's the question, if I have an armor that provides soak, and an armor that provides defense, and I wear both, do they stack? I know it's "better of both" for defenses and soak, but what about this?

For instance, let's say I have "Steelskin" Anti-Concussive Armor, it provides me with a soak of 3. Can I add TX-3 Combat Flight Suit underneath it, to get the +1 defenses that it provides in addition to the Steelskin armor? What about a Personal Deflector Shield for a +2 to defenses? Could I add in a Second Skin instead even though it has a Soak Value solely for the +1 Defense it provides?

Thanks to anyone who can answer this question for me.

I'm AFB right now, but the book says as far as I remember, that you only can use the stats of one armor. (espacially while one covers up the other)

Mostly because it is physical not possible to wear two armors at the same time. (Those armors are mostly tight... you'll squeez very important organs by trying to wear something thicker than your normal trousers beneth it.)

the personal Shield generator is no armor, it is just an utility you can uses while carrying around.

So Amor with 2 Soak + 2 def from a shield generator is ok

But Armor with 2 Soak + 1def from a second Armor is NOT.

there is a greyzone about special abilitys of armor where wearing together is possible.

e.g. wearing an Fullplate-Battle Armor and a conceling robe.

at my table the user gains the effekt of the robe to be hard to recognized (while the soak 1 is NOT aplied) he has to take the full encumbarence of the robe (no -3 for wearing it, that is already used with the main Battle-Armor)

They do stack, I once had a character who eventually amassed 8 soak because we would loot armor from the places we went.

You can only use the Soak from a single source. Multiple sets of armor's soak do not stack.

In the desperate allies AoR book there is second skin armor that provides +1 defense, it's intended to be worn underneath clothes so if you had that on underneath another armor that totally makes sense. But I can't see a flight suit being worn underneath steelskin armor, I mean i'd allow it but you'd also be getting black dice on checks because it restrained your movement. BTW if all you want is 3 soak and 1 defense, then you can get the reinforced clothing template add the 1 soak, 1 ranged defense, 1 melee defense and 1 hard point crafting upgrades, the use your 1 hard points and 5k credits to add the superior attachment to get your 3rd point of soak. And it's in a package/form factor that is discreet blends in so you can wear it "everywhere"
