Ordnance is back!

By Kyl0REN, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been trying to figure out a way to make ordnance work after U-boats got nerfed. I figured homing missiles would be useful against defenders.

the list is:

Miranda - 50

Homing Missiles - 5

Extra munitions - 2

TLT - 6

Sabine Wren - 2

Conner Net - 4

Seismic charges - 2

Guidance Chips - 0

Green Squadron Pilot x2 - 25

A - wing test pilot - 0

Crack Shot - 1

Homing Missiles - 5

Adaptability - 0

Guidance Chips - 0

Total Points - 100

So the idea is you let the A-wings do alot of damage then have Miranda clean whatevers left with her bombs and TLT. Feedback is appreciated.

The reason why torpedo scouts have taken a big nerf now is that they are no longer able to move first and still fire torpedos without deadeye, so I'm not too sure how your a-wings are any better in that regard. Yes you have adaptability for PS4 but U-boats can take that as well, and it only helps in marginal cases.

Miranda as a missile carrier is tried and tested. I think if you want to make those a-wings efficient(ish) missile carriers you really want to have deadeye on them.Being able to take deadeye and crackshot together is nice, but you would need to find the 2 points somewhere else, maybe dropping the seismic charges off Miranda?

(And even then after that first engaement you are basically just going to have a PS3 naked a-wing as your missiles and EPTs are essentially one shot so you had better make those missiles really pull their weight)

Will I still get the target lock? Because homing missiles allows me to use the target lock and I don think I can do that with deadeye.

Deadeye

You may treat the "ATTACK (TARGET LOCK):" header as '"ATTACK (FOCUS):".

When an attack instructs you to spend a target lock, you may spend a focus token instead.

Homing missiles

ATTACK (TARGET LOCK): Discard this card to peform this attack.

The defender cannot spend evade tokens during this attack.

My understanding is that the interaction is that you need a focus to perform the attack rather than a target lock. When you fire the missile, you wouldn't spend the focus and would then be able to use it to modify your results.

So the answer to your question is No you wouldn't have a target lock for modification, you would have a focus which would average out to the same thing.
