Ordnance is back!

By Kyl0REN, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been trying to figure out a way to make ordnance work after U-boats got nerfed. I figured homing missiles would be useful against defenders.

the list is:

Miranda - 50

Homing Missiles - 5

Extra munitions - 2

TLT - 6

Sabine Wren - 2

Conner Net - 4

Seismic charges - 2

Guidance Chips - 0

Green Squadron Pilot x2 - 25

A - wing test pilot - 0

Crack Shot - 1

Homing Missiles - 5

Adaptability - 0

Guidance Chips - 0

Total Points - 100

So the idea is you let the A-wings do alot of damage then have Miranda clean whatevers left with her bombs and TLT. Feedback is appreciated.

I would look at swapping LRS onto Miranda. You want those first Homing Missiles to be a five dice can't spend evades plus TL to reroll plus focus token to mod shot. It's extremely good for alpha striking, and because Miranda can SLAM, she can easily get out of range 2 to take another lock if needed.

Your GSPs are a bit pricey for what they'll do. I understand that they are meant to get that alpha Homing Missile off, but at PS3, if you are in arc and you took a lock, you are the number 1 target to try eliminate in one round. Miranda is a good end game ship, but she probably won't be able to take an entire list by herself. I would suggest a more asymmetric build, something like:

Jake Farrell — A-Wing 24

Calculation 1

Proton Rockets 3

Crack Shot 1

Guidance Chips 0

A-Wing Test Pilot 0

Ship Total: 29

Green Squadron Pilot — A-Wing 19

Rage 1

Chardaan Refit -2

Wired 1

Autothrusters 2

A-Wing Test Pilot 0

Ship Total: 21

You could even throw on Vectored Thrusters to the GSP to give him access to that Barrel Roll for some extra blocking shenanigans. Wired helps in case he's getting shot at the turn after Rage, it's not great, but it's better than nothing. I think Jake is fairly self explanatory, and the calculation allows for him to take advantage of focusing every turn for the free repositioning. And now you have an 8, 7, 3 PS instead of 8 and 2 3s. Why that's important? Two most common defenders are Ryad (PS5) and Vessery (PS6), so having 2 shots before them instead of one, and with as big as the shots are, you could potentially down one before it shoots (unlikely, but possible).
