Rebel Try

By Rolotamasi, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I don't rebel very much, or at all. But I do like Braylen and the stressbot so I thought I would give it a try. Poe looks fun, especially a bit tanky with some authothrusters and sensor cluster. I threw this together. Does it look like it would have legs? Any improvements or whole sale changes?

Poe Dameron (31)
Push the Limit (3)
R2-D2 (4)
Sensor Cluster (2)
Autothrusters (2)
Black One (1)

Braylen Stramm (25)
Gunner (5)
R3-A2 (2)
Alliance Overhaul (0)

Tarn Mison (23)
R7 Astromech (2)

Integrated Astromech (0)

Total: 100

Prob don't need the title, but I thought with PTL I could focus and boost to manage arcs a little, plus dropping a TL seems to be good now and again.

Edit: Added the IA to Tarn like it should be.

My opinion on Poe is go all-in for repositioning or all-in for joust. I haven't won any games with him when I tired to split the difference.

Change Sensor Cluster to Pattern Analyzer. When you perform a green maneuver, you can Push the Limit to do two actions, get your stress, then clear the stress from Pattern Analyzer. It opens up your dial for future turns.

So to go "all in" tank-y would be to drop PTL for something more defensive? I am pretty sure by its obvious lack of use that elusiveness is bad, but it might not be here. Take your obligatory focus action, then when defending use elusiveness. It could help on an alpha strike like this:

4 dice torpedo, range 3 - with GC and possible mods = 4 hits

Elusiveness: re-roll 1 red to eyeball: down to 3 hits

3 green dice (average): 1 evade, 1 focus, 1 blank = down to 2 hits

Poe's ability: 2 evade, 1 blank = down to one hit

Sensor cluster: 3 evade = zero hits

That also leaves a bit of wiggle room if that one evade was a focus you could still get 3 evades with Poe's ability, focus token, authothrusters. Or 1 evade two blanks still becomes 3 evades with SC and AT. The biggest downfall is the stress token, but without PTL it is manageable, especially with your propensity to dial greens to recover shields with R2D2.

At the very least, it needs more Integrated Astromech on Tarn.

I would agree with changing Sensor Cluster to Pattern Analyser as it works really well with PTL or if you need to pull a red maneuver. PTL + PA is great on Poe as it gives him the action economy he really needs without burdening him with too much stress. Black 1 is handy for occasional use as PTL means you can Boost and still Focus if you need to. Often simply having it is enough to put opponents off TLing Poe. Either way is good for you since ordnance strikes are one of the few things that regen ships are really susceptible to.

Totally. I left it off because I am so unused to rebels and at zero points it slipped my mind. That being said, dropping to elusiveness gives me another point and dropping the title from Poe gives me another. Are there better 2pt upgrades? Vectored Thrusters on Tarn?

Elusiveness isn't great, but if you're set on freeing up points you should swap R7 for M9-G8.

Tarn loves M9-G8

When I build Regen Poe, I give him Lone Wolf, R5-P9, Pattern Analyzer, Autothrusters and Black One. Of those cards, Black One gets used the least because I rarely boost.

When I build Poe to reposition, he gets PtL, BB-8, Pattern Analyzer, Autothrusters and Black One. In that build Autothrusters gets used the least because he usually doesn't get shot.

But what about tank Poe? I assume you don't ever pick sensor cluster?

I am not seeing the delineation on Tarn from R7 and M9. When Tarn gets shot with R7 he acquires a TL and he can then spend it to make the attacker re-roll all the red dice potentially. With M9 he acquires a TL in the same fashion but then can only re-roll 1 red die. The draw back to R7 is that it is ony once per round, but M9 is only one die. Is M9 better because Tarn can do it to multiple attackers? Not sure on the math but 3 single dice on 3 separate attacks has to be close to 3 dice on one attack. Again, I suck at math.

In the early game, M9-G8 is better, especially if Biggs is in your list. In the late game, R7 is better.

M9 can help other ships with a TL on a friendly high PS ship, and then Tarn can TL his attackers for a reroll on them and use his TL to mod his attack dice when the time comes.
