Fly Backward

By Graeme Lyon, in X-Wing

Welp, I called it on "Score to Settle" being a double-edged sword. Still going to be auto-include on Bossk, not sure who else really wants it with that downside.

Is it worth taking extra crits on all that hull to give Bossk the mods? I think it might be but I'm not sure if it hits auto-include territory, especially since he does have a high enough PS that VI can be useful. I think I'd rather have Crackshot on him to make sure that a crit that gets rolled gets pounded through defense dice.

Yeah, Tugboats will be a priority target.

I'm still not really seeing it. Sure, the action TB can be annoying but if you're flying a 2 large ship list (Dengaroo, Brobots, etc), or if the only ship in range is a large ship, the TB token isn't all that debilitating. Plus the Quadjumper itself is just a 2R with no TL. I guess if you're flying aces then yeah, tugboat has to go.

Dont forget the crane can go away. Its ..what is it 40% chance to roll a blank on a red die? You still get the card flipped back up but you might only get it once.

Also this would be funny against swarms. Drop bomb...get one back...drop bomb...get it back...etc etc

2 blanks on an 8 sided die = 25% blank chance

Wonder how viable a "tractor boost" will be. Gonna reduce your agility, but you could have a tugboat following another ship to push it forward, since the mod lets you tractor your own ships lol.

The reduced agility probably kills that idea.

Uhhh... Try 25%.

2 blanks, 2 focus, 3 hits, 1 crit. 8 sides total.

2/8 = 1/4 = 25%.

Derp nvm i was thinking "hits or miss" on init rolls, which is including eyes. Eyes, a blank is not.

Disappointed that all the reverse's are red :( ...means Pattern Analyser is almost obligatory if you expect to do actions afterwards - I'd hoped that the straight might at least be white!

...so, the Constable, PA, PTL and EU for reverse straight or bank, BR and Boost...that occupies a lot of board real-estate and directions! :D

Dengar doesn't really want a tractor token though does he? 9 health behind 1 agility melts kind of quickly even if you have an unlimited supply of focus tokens.

Can someone tell me why this ship has 5 hull ? That's beefier than A LOT of ships that are designed for combat .

Guess that Tie/SF scored at least one Direct Hit! on Jakku...

Someone please try to convince me that Crane + Stealth Device isn't going to be a thing. Because I'm pretty sure that should be a thing.

dengaroo -1 agi means you don't even have to care about manny anymore

you will roll straight through dengar and basically win the game by just jousting

my experience using tailgunner ARCs, anyway

5 points is why it won't.

Plus, not THAT many Scummies that actually want Stealth Devices. Only really Scyks, just maybe Fenn. And neither of those has Illicit.

Also, this thing is as small as an A-Wing, so it's going to be adorable.

Primed Thrustors will be glued to this guy. Pattern Analyzers would be good but since it has no green 1 moves, its likely it wont want to use its greens after backing up so its still going to be stressed, PA wont help with that.

Behold, the reason Primed Thrustors only has 1 copy in the HOTR box!

Dont get why the tugboat has hyperwave for its included tech. I dont think i'd ever want that on it.

Doubt this guy is ever going to be spammed, or even in pairs, since its underwhelming as hell outside the tractor lulz. Both the revealed named pilots (didnt miss the 3rd guy did i?) are just complete trolls. Unkar and the mod are both going to be annoying, to the point where im positive hes going to get evaporated first not because hes deadly but because hes ANNOYING AS HELL lol.

Being able to freely drop an action bomb when backing up is awesome, and the crane is cool though not sure if i'd bother since like i said this guy is going to draw a ton of attention.

That mod is seriously dickish lol. Action: throw someone onto a rock and reduce agility. No dice, just action lol. It does have an arc restriction though so its not a complete bs card, but i could see bringing a cheapo tugboat literally for this mod alone lol. Remember, you dont have to actually put them on the rock if you tractor before they moved. Behind the rock will do :D

Also it'd be funny if you could put hera on there. Permanent backing up noises....

Well I believe I must paint one yellow with black trim. Gonna need to find a very small caution cone or caution light to glue on top as well.

Considering you can put the mod on a low PS ship, that R1 and arc are not that much of a challenge to achieve. I wonder if it's going to continue to push people towards big ships.

Quadjumper will be easy to burn down. This just gives Scum a cheap psuedo-Biggs against aces.

this

Tugboats are 2/2/5/0 and are slow. It will have the same issue Bombers have which is somehow they just devour crits more than everyone else since they have no shields. I'd expect this to die in 2 rounds at the most.

But, its got so much shenanigans going on theres no way someone is going to ignore it. Even the PS1 shmuck with the mod alone is enough to draw my attention. Tugboats WILL be the first death in scum lists, but thats why you plan for that.

That "slow" dial is not going to have too much of a problem getting a ship approaching it in R1 (especially for just a couple extra points with pattern analyzer). We'll see, but I think that with a meta already shifting towards big ships and this will push it further in that direction.

That's cool but I'd never count on N'Dru living to get a second shot. You lose some rerolls but if you are going for hilarity, N'Dru needs Fearlessness to go with those Cluster Missiles.

You know, with Manaroo around this might actually not be too horrible.

Oh, my....this thing is going to be silly. I absolutely love it!

I like the idea that you could force someone to run off the board. With Tractor Array, you activate it as an Action. So....you move up and hit someone with it. They had just enough room to clear the board edge. Oh, you boosted them 1 Forward. They are now off the board!!!

With enough Tractor Beam tokens, Dengar isn't going to get to roll any green dice. Or Soontir Fel, for that matter.

Scavenger Crane is gonna be neat though. Not sure where it's useful, however, especially as it doesn't work on illicits. 2 points is a lot to pay for what it does - but what it does is worth paying for, perhaps. And that action-tractor-beam is sweeeeeet.

It's the Scum Extra Munitions! It could potentially work more times than Extra Munitions. It's going to do amazing things for the Z-95 and Kihraxz Fighter.

So, does Soontir Fel do anything any more?

It does feel like anti-fel tech has been showing up a LOT in the past couple of waves.

But it's OK, the Upsilon will help him a lot.

I'm pleased to be vindicated on what A Debt to Pay does, it's exactly what I thought it would be.

Yes, FFG has realized that Soontir Fel has been warping the meta for a long time now. There needs to be more tools to deal with Soontir Fel. This has been going on for 2 waves at least. I'm incredibly happy about it because I'm tired of seeing all Imperial lists with Soontir Fel. It's already happened with the Tie Defenders and /x7, which is great.

Also, Scavenger crane is only de-discarding things that were equipped to y our ship. Not stealing off others as some have read it- so you'll never end up with something you didn't bring in to the fight.

Exactly. It's essentially Extra Munitions.

Kihraxz Fighters can take an Illicit, Guidance Chip, and various Missiles. They can now get to fire again if something blows up in R 1-2 of them. This has potential to be really crazy. Fang Fighters can't do this.

Z-95's will also be important. N'dru w/ Cluster Missiles and this card will be ugly.

OK...I know there have been a lot of posts since I've just typed this, so I'm sorry if someone already posted these thoughts.

Not relevant. The point is that Stealth Device is only really worth it on 3-agi ships, and those are the only two Scum ships that are 3-AGI and not welded directly to Autothrusters.

What I really wonder is whether this has any utility on the cheap YTs for Rebels.

Kath with Tail Gunner just found a new buddy....

True enough I guess. I just figure the actual danger is probably the ace taking advantage of the -1 die, rather than the tug that's 2Ring with no TL or Focus while it takes 1 AGI away. Especially if you're in a YV or something with garbage AGI anyway.

2 agility ships actually might consider it if they can pick it back up after the first drop I think though. Lancers and HWKs? Torkil or Palob picking up an extra agility at the start and also towards the end when they are on their last legs could really mess with things.

Also, Guri or Xizor is another option. Tough dropping ATs, obviously, but at least worth trying out. Especially Guri, who doesn't really like to be at range 3 anyways.

Low PS ship that applies Tractor Beam tokens as an Action during the movement phase? You can push ships that haven't activated yet towards the edge of the board and watch them fly themselves off since they have already set their dial.

There is going to be some table-flipping going on.
