Welcome aboard the Shuttle Tydirium for episode 30! This week we talk about a little-known but very fun X-wing variant: Mario Kart X-wing. We also announce a T-shirt campaign - all proceeds go toward podcast expenses, such as buying J-bot a new recording device that does not self-destruct periodically. We'll also drop a few hints about the Shuttle Tydirium Narrative event coming next year. Then, Phil lectures about X-wing campaigns for about half an hour. Enjoy!

Did I just get The Ring'd?

I did my own rules for this last year for a Convention around where i live.

I will upload them here as soon as possible. I am currently on my phone where i can't upload.

My version was called the "Asteroid Cup"

I used 3 types of ships for the sake of fairness.

- A wings with Autothrusters (and Chardaan)

- Tie Advanced Prototypes with Title

- Scyk with Title and Tractor beam

I use these because they have low firepower mainly. This way the shooting aspect of the game does not become too important. You can still damage your opponent with lasers in my game, but 2 dice vs 3 is much less likely to get damage through. That's where power-ups come into play...

I use a similar Checkpoint system to this game and my track was also made with colored tape, but with more additional asteroids.

I used objective markers as Power-ups where you could then draw mines, bombs, missiles, stealth devices or heals (shield/hull upgrades)

In my ruleset the Pilot skill do not play a role. The activations and firing order change every turn.

Glad to hear it! Details will flow more freely the closer we get to gencon 2017, aka August next year. We've got a good outline for the event, but details will change a lot between now and then. We'll be promoting the event heavily in spring and summer I expect.
