The Adventures of Agnes Baker

By hoobawulf, in Arkham Horror: The Card Game

Hello all! I wanted to share my thoughts of my first play through using Agnes, and share my story. (Standard difficulty) SPOILERS below!

After reading the manual and seeing it recommend using Roland, I immediately created the deck for my favorite investigator from Eldritch Horror, Agnes. I've had many wins using her on eldritch and arkham, so it was a no brainer to pick her.

Part 1, I had the best setup that I experienced for the entire campaign, her amulet was out giving me card draw, I drew withering early on, I was using her ability to dispatch the ghouls along with wither, as well as the forbidden knowledge too. After an exciting round, and blowing up the ghoul boss at the end with my last charge of wither, I advanced to part 2.

And got my butt handed to me. With a bad starting hand, a bad mulligan, I never got any spells except scry. I ended only capturing one cultist. Blegh.

Agnes does work fantastic in solo, but you need those spells. I breezed through Scenario 1 with her, killed the Ghoul Priest with ease, and earned 7 XP. Scenario 2, I was doing great, but made a stupid mistaken to go after the Undertaker, trapping myself in the Graveyard with the Masked Hunter waiting for me in Riverside. I had no way to evade nor fight him, so was forced to resign with only 2 Cultists. Scenario 3, I got greedy and tried to parlay with the 3 remaining Cultists (I had killed the Hunter by this point), but miscalculated again and got eaten by Umordhoth.

I think two-handed with Agnes and either Roland or Skids would be pretty powerful. Those are my next combinations to try.
